The society was founded with the main purpose to help students & undergraduates transform themselves into exemplified members of the professional population. VFW Teacher of the Year Scholarship Award ABOUT the AWARD
The VFW TEACHER OF THE YEAR SCHOLARSHIP AWARD (also called as the VFW’s National Citizenship Education Teachers’ Award) is sponsored by VFW – Veterans of Foreign Wars – an organization whose mission is to “honor the dead by helping the living” through veterans’ service, community service, national security and a strong national defense. The organization has interest in America’s Youth education and the award is a way to recognize and facilitate America’s top elementary, junior high and high school teachers who educate on citizenship related topics regularly thereby highlighting and promoting America’s history and traditions.

ABOUT the SOCIETY
The VFW was founded in 1899 to safeguard and protect the rights and benefits of the veterans for their service. It has been instrumental in this activity by seeking assistance through VFW’s National Legislative Service and VFW’s National Veterans Service. It is also involved in national security through the VFW’s National security and foreign affairs service. This organization also provides help to educate school children through its various departments. Finally the organization through its members contributes to the society through various community services including active participation in various regional and national events. One of such service is to provide support through the VFW TEACHER OF THE YEAR SCHOLARSHIP AWARD to teachers who promote America’s national tradition and ideals in education.

AWARD DETAILS
The VFW’s National citizenship education teacher award (VFW TEACHER OF THE YEAR SCHOLARSHIP AWARD) is presented annually and consists of $1,000 cash award for teachers in three categories namely K-5, 6-8 and 9-12. A $100 VFW scholarship is presented to the winning teacher’s school and plaques are provided to the teacher as well as the school and an all-expenses-paid trip to attend a VFW and Ladies Auxiliary National Conference.
All the current classroom teachers who are teaching at least half-day at any school in a classroom environment in grades K-12 are eligible. Nominations can be submitted by the fellow teachers, supervisors and other interested individuals. Relatives and self-nomination is not allowed. Also previous state and national VFW winners for the award are ineligible as well.

APPLICATION DETAILS
The nominating individual has to fill in the application form and provide a short essay (less than 350 words) specifying the reason the nominee should be selected for the VFW National Citizenship Education Teacher Award. The essay should describe in detail the teacher’s innovative teaching and resource development methods, as well as his or her dedication to education.

The completed application material needs to be submitted to the local VFW chapters or POST. Based on the nominees submitted, VFW’s local chapters recognize one outstanding teacher in grades K-5, 6-8 and 9-12. These selected winners are then submitted to their District-level judging, who will forward their winners to the Department (or state) level. After judging, each Department then forwards the names of its winners to VFW National Headquarters for consideration in the national awards contest. The last day for nomination is November 01. Local selections are done from Nov 2 to Nov 15.

VFW aims to “Identify and recognize America’s best educators” and understands the need to do so. Unless the teachers are encouraged, the youth will never be able to understand the rich history of America. The VFW TEACHER OF THE YEAR SCHOLARSHIP AWARD provided by Veterans of Foreign Wars is one means to achieve this.

Criteria for the Prestigious Rhodes Scholarship

Former Rhodes Scholars who received a Rhodes Scholarship for study abroad are fascinating people who lead productive and exciting lives.

Former Rhodes Scholars who received a Rhodes Scholarship for study abroad are fascinating people who lead productive, exciting, broadly innovative, and diverse lives. After all, they must be academically, morally, physically, and internationally inclined, to ever have been considered for a Rhodes Scholarship in the first place. Any person worthy of receiving Rhodes Scholarships must be very well rounded and will have a natural desire to lead others, promote international peace and understanding, and unselfishly share their wisdom worldwide in such a way that it benefits everyone they meet.

Rhodes Scholarships were first offered after the death of Cecil J. Rhodes, an extraordinary British pioneer who envisioned world peace and improved international relations brought about by the studies and efforts of diverse groups of outstanding leaders. Rhodes died in 1902, leaving a will that provided funds for people deserving of Rhodes Scholarships, which were first issued in 1904. Rhodes set high standards for students worthy of these scholarships but was adamant that no one be denied eligibility because of race or religion. Although women were not at first eligible, they, too, were included starting in 1976.

Becoming a Rhodes Scholar earns you the distinction of becoming a student of the ancient and notorious Oxford University located in Oxfordshire, Great Britain. Oxford University regularly makes the list of the world’s top 10 universities and is noted for their emphasis on individual instruction, as well as their commitment to personal and academic development. They believe in the philosophy of students educating themselves.

90 Rhodes Scholarships are available annually, with 32 of them being earmarked for United States citizens. The rest of them are distributed among various other countries, such as Canada (11), South Africa (10), Australia (9), India (5), New Zealand (3), and Germany (2). Several other countries are awarded 1 or 2 yearly, as well. Candidates for the scholarships are chosen by 16 District Committees situated throughout the country. In order to apply for a Rhodes scholarship, candidates must have completed at least 2 years of college at a qualifying university before October 1st of the year following the year they make application.

Rhodes Scholarships provide all educational expenses for anywhere from 1 to 3 years, depending on the degree program being sought. They also include stipends for living expenses, maintenance provisions for other necessary expenses, and paid travel to and from the University of Oxford.

No student is restricted to any particular academic field but they must choose studies that are offered at Oxford and they must have completed their undergraduate studies in that same discipline. Many students seek to obtain Oxford’s notorious Master of Philosophy degree. Oxford offers many bachelors, masters, and doctorate degrees.

In order to become a Rhodes Scholar, one must be between the ages of 19 and 23, have completed the academic requirements outlined above, and possess multiple qualities of excellence in the fields of academics and sports. In addition, they must be individuals capable of contributing long-term, selfless investments to the causes of public service, world peace, and international relations. Although graduates may not necessarily dedicate their careers to these particular causes, they will be individuals capable of bringing widespread positive changes to whatever area they choose in a tremendous capacity.

Examples of former Rhodes Scholars exemplifying the extraordinary characteristics required for qualification are Bill Clinton (former President of the United States), Bill Bradley (United States Senator), George Stephanopoulos (political commentator), Kris Kristofferson (actor/musician), and Faith Salie (public radio host of “Fair Game”). There are many more examples and most of them have positively impacted the world with their own magnificent talents and dedication to excellence. The prestigious Rhodes scholarships for study abroad can do the same for you.

Easy Tips on Scholarships for Private High Schools

Simple and easy ways to look for scholarships for private high schools. High school scholarships are done this way very simply.

scholarships for private high schools
Private High School Scholarships
There are many parents who want the best for their kids but don’t always have the financial assets to offer them such a remarkable opportunity. Parents wanting to send their children to a private high school especially, are left with no more than one logical decision, which is trying to get scholarships for private high schools for their children. Public schools are now considered to offer less learning possibilities in some areas, and many of the good teachers have turned to private institutions.

If you are unsure of the procedure you will have to follow or if you don’t even know where to start, maybe the following easy scholarship tips can help you find a few useful guidelines to help you decide on a school and on a financial aid provider.

1. The first thing is to look around your home-town for teaching institutions that offer lots of available places for the next school period. The best choices are those that have lots of sponsors which can help your children with scholarships for a private high school, without having to worry yourself. There are some schools that have their own means of financing, and they usually use the scholarship students number as an advertising means. For example, there are private schools that offer scholarships for extraordinary students. If a school is lacking at some point African-American students, then they will be more inclined to admit them, and will even advertise scholarships they have for that type of students. Each school is trying to get what it doesn’t have. This can mean girls, or kids with artistic talents or math skills. Since schools have private financing sources (which can be companies owned by parents of some students or other companies that invest into education in the exchange of a few logos placed on sport equipment and because they will benefit from serious tax deductions), they will be able to admit non-paying students and include them in their scholarship programs. The number and aptitudes of selected students will be mentioned in specialty publications, getting the school the right type of advertising they are after.

2. Once locating one or more schools, you should go personally to the facility and get in touch with a secretary that can direct you to the office you are looking for, the one dealing with scholarships for students. Here, you can pick up the application for a scholarship for private high school.

3. You will need to gather all needed files you are requested by each school in particular: birth certificates for the children, the files you are handed to complete and any additional files that can prove family income and children’s previous school results.

4. You need to start the search early in the year, preferably in January, because you will need to bring proof of taxes paid for the last year. The tax return documents are the ones used by the Government and Ministry of Education to evaluate your situation and grant parental financial aid for scholarships.

5. Once you get these documents, make copies of your financial statements and attach them to school files. Make a different file for each private school you are considering for scholarship and make sure they are sent out in time, usually by late May, so that they will be processed as soon as possible.

6. Even if the scholarships for private high schools are usually based on the particular financial needs of each family, it doesn’t hurt proving your child’s school performances. Allow teachers from the new schools to talk to the child, make him take part in some tests of that school and make sure he scores high. Also, talk to the teachers in his previous school, and select those that like your child the most. Then ask then to address recommendation letters to each of the private schools you have in mind.

7. Evaluate your situation. There are schools that offer special scholarships for children who live in the same town, while others offer them to children that are not resident in that particular town. There are high schools offering scholarships for children gifted in math, others for those inclined towards literature. Discovering your child’s special talents will aid you a lot in being granted a scholarship in the most prestigious high schools.

This entire search regarding scholarships for private high schools should be only conducted if you truly feel that your child is missing important aspects of learning in his current school. As we all know, offering him the opportunity of learning in a quality academic environment since early ages will have a beneficial effect on his future adult performances.

KFC Scholarship Best Unknown Fast Food Scholarship

KFC scholarships are the best unknown fast food scholarships on the market today.

KFC scholarship from Kentucky Fried Chicken an Unknown scholarship

You may of eaten at Kentucky Fried Chicken many times, and never realized that when your a graduating high school senior and graduating between 12/1 – 8/31, your eligible to apply for their unknown KFC scholarship program. You most certainly want to do so because KFC is not chicken when it comes to awarding scholarships.  It’s the best scholarship among fast food chains with no other chain even coming close to what the KFC scholarship program offers to the finalist who win.

Here’s why…read on.

KFC has their very own chicken scholarship handed out every year, and it’s a solid paying fried chicken scholarship at that. It’s called The KFC Colonel’s Scholars Program and it will pay for your tuition, fees, books, room and board. Up to $5,000 per year in KFC scholarship money can be awarded, and a total of $20,000 over four years in helping to complete a bachelor’s degree for those students who attend post-secondary colleges within their states of residence. Kentucky Fried Chicken hands out a whoping (50) to (60) KFC scholarships each and every year. Wow! This is unbeleiveable, especially coming from a fast food chain.

Colonel’s Scholars scholarships are a program of the Kentucky Fried Chicken Foundation, which is essentially a charity. It is supported and funded by KFC, its employees, franchisees and KFC patrons (which is you and me when we go there to eat).
The KFC scholarship program criteria aren’t too difficult to meet either. You must demonstrate financial need, be a US citizen or permanent resident, plan to attend college at a public, in-state college or university (start date no later than 9/30/09), and seek a bachelor’s degree. Your cumulative high school GPA must at least be 2.75, which is low when it comes to scholarship eligibility standards, and you must of graduated between 12/1 and 8/31.

What the KFC Scholarship program looks for when it selects the winners, or finalist in May of every year, are people who demonstrate an exceptionally strong entrepreneural drive, and a “never give up atitude”. The winners will all have exhibited a perseverance to overcome and eventually succeed type drive inside them.

Applying for the KFC scholarships is done December 1st through middle of February, and you will be notified in May if your a finalist. An independent selection committee selects the KFC Colonel’s Scholars for each year.

How the KFC Scholarship Application Process Works
Since you can’t apply until December 1st of every year, you want to check to see what is posted at the KFC Scholarship program application page starting September 1st through December 1st just to see what it may say. It states that the program is closed between February 15th through August 31st if you go there between those dates. From December 1st to February 15th is where you can submit your application online only. You will be asked to register, to set up your account first. Once that is complete, you will be taken to a KFC scholarship eligibility quiz page to see if you pass that. This little quiz will weed out many people who have no chance to win whatsoever. If you do pass that, then you gain access to the main online application where you can work on the required application essays and other forms of qualification type writting test at your leisure until February 15th at which time you must submit your final application. You just log in and out during those periods and when finally done, hit the final sumit key. This is nice because you don’t have to complete everything at one setting.

This is one exceptional unknown scholarship offered through KFC, simply because of the large scholarship amounts awarded, and the number of scholarships handed out each year. Every high school senior should apply for this KFC scholarship if you seem to be fitting all the above KFC qualifications and also have the entrepreneural drive, which KFC will reward you for. This is by far the best unknown fast food scholarship today. KFC is not chicken when it comes to handing out college scholarships, that’s for sure!

Cincinnatus Scholarship

Of all the various scholarships today, the Cincinnatus Scholarship and Competition held each year at the University of Cincinnati, has to be one of the most extraordinary and atypical college scholarships today. They may even be easy scholarships to capture, because you may qualify already. Mainly a farmer first, Cincinnatus was a Roman statesman who gained fame for his selfless devotion to the republic in a time of crisis and for giving up the reins of power when the crisis was over. He made his stint as dictator as brief as possible, and went back to being a farmer once the Roman crisis was over. He was admirable for his lack of ambition of power, as well as his ability to serve his country when called upon to do so.

The Cincinnatus Scholarship is only for incoming freshmen seeking admission to the University of Cincinnati with a completed UC admissions application by December 15th of their senior year of High School, along with their transcripts and test scores. Cincinnatus Scholarships are renewable up to (12) full-time quarters along with completing (30)hours of community service. Minimum 3.2 GPA must be maintained.

Ten Cincinnatus scholarships of $80,000
(est. $20,000 per year to cover full tuition, fees, room,
board with book allowance)

Easy Steps to Apply for the Cincinnatus Scholarship

There will be questions on the application specifically to see if you qualify for the Cincinnatus Scholarship.

2) If you do qualify, you will be notified by mail that you will be receiving the Century Cincinnatus scholarship of $2,000 per year for four years, if you maintain a 3.2 GPA and complete (30) hours of community service per year.

3) You will then be offered an opportunity to compete in the Cincinnatus scholarship competition to be held on campus on February 7, for more than $18 million in University of Cincinnati four-year scholarships. This gives you an opportunity to earn more scholarship monies by winning the University, Founders, or a shot for the largest of the awards, the Ten Cincinnatus scholarships of $80,000 (est. $20,000 per year).

4) You will be asked every year to compete as long as you maintain the 3.2 GPA and (30) hrs community service. You’re guaranteed $2,000 every year, and the chance to earn more if you place in the Cincinnatus Scholarship Competition yearly.

The University of Cincinnati does not place restrictions on the number of freshmen eligible to receive the base level Century scholarships. Whoever fills out the University of Cincinnati admissions application and “qualifies”, based on the specific questions which qualifies you for the Cincinnatus Scholarship; will be awarded monies. Then, each and every year you can choose if you want to compete on February 7th, for a chance to upgrade your Cincinnatus Scholarship to a higher monetary level.

Weird Unknown Left Handed Scholarships Grants

There are weird unknown left handed scholarships being offerred by Juniata College and it’s being sponsored by the Mary Francis Beckley Scholarship Foundation.

There is weird unknown left handed scholarships being offerred by Juniata College located in Pennsylvania and it’s being sponsored by the Mary Francis Beckley Scholarship Foundation. There are thousands of unique and unusual minority scholarships available to qualified students each year. Many are offered based on a student’s ethnic background or other personal attributes. One characteristic that many people may not even realize puts them in a minority, though, is their status as a left-handed person.

You probably weren’t aware that left handed people are a minority. In fact, only ten percent of the entire population is left handed! One college in Pennsylvania, however, both recognizes and celebrates this individual diversity. Each year, Juniata College awards up to $1,500 in academic scholarships each year to students who experience some type of handicap as a result of being left-handed.

These scholarships for left handers are funded by the Mary Francis Beckley Scholarship Foundation. This weird scholarship just for being left handed was founded in 1979. Since that time, at least 40 students have been awarded scholarships from this fund. Left handed scholarship students are identified by a question on the data form that each college freshman completes.  Woman don’t have to worry either because Juniata has scholarships for left handed females too!

Those students who have excellent academic records are chosen as left handed college scholarship recipients. Any left-handed sophomore, junior, or senior student attending Juniata College is considered for this left handed award. Only students attending this college, however, are eligible for this weird unknown scholarship opportunity.

This college offers a wide variety of programs, including Programs of Emphasis, or Majors, in accounting, biology, communication, education, politics, and language. Each student attending this college has a unique opportunity to win one of several merit unknown scholarships. The amount of these awards, in many cases, ranges from $8,000 to full tuition scholarships.

Although many scholarships for left handed people websites frequently mention left handed scholarships, the award offered at Juniata College is the only one designed specifically for left handed students. This is somewhat weird, considering that one in ten persons are left-handed, but apparently, many left handed philanthropists choose to donate unknown scholarship monies to other funds or organizations rather than funding college tuition for other persons who are left handed.

Unless you are considering attending Juniata College, though, start looking for other ways to fund your college education. You aren’t going to win a left handed college scholarship just for being left handed unless you just happen to decide to go to college in Huntingdon, Pennsylvania. And, although Juniata College offers a sound education with an excellent graduation rate, the small size of the college is a big indicator that not all left handed persons are going to be able to attend college here.

If you are planning to go to school here, though, and you do happen to be left-handed, it might not hurt to at least ask about their left handed scholarships when you are filling out the data form. Unless you’re willing to look out for unusual and weird scholarship opportunities to finance your education, you may not see them even when they come your way.

Keep your eyes open so you don’t miss out on a great opportunity to win your share of weird unknown scholarship college education money each year. Good luck, and keep looking for little known creative ways to finance your college education!

Unique Kohls Scholarship Program Cares for Kids

Kohls really cares for kids, because they have taken a unique Kohls scholarship approach to recognize young people who are active in their communities.

Most college scholarships are primarily for high school or college students. Kohls Corporation really cares for kids, because they have opted to take an unique Kohls scholarship approach to recognize young people who are active in their communities. Through the Kohl’s Kids Who Care Scholarship Program, 2,100 youths aged six to eighteen have a unique opportunity to receive recognition for their community involvement and contributions.

This Kohl’s store scholarship was organized by a corporation that understands that children of all ages are essential members of their communities and have a unique part to play in the lives of those around them. The corporation has taken steps to ensure that every child has a unique opportunity to win college scholarship money. For this reason, students from each of two age groups are chosen for these awards. One group consists of children aged six to twelve. The second group consists of children aged 12 to 18. One student from each group is chosen at each Kohl’s store located throughout the United States to be a recipient of this unique reward.
This Kohls scholarship program, funded by Kohl’s Corporation, has been in operation for eight years, and has awarded over $200,000 annually to students who make a vital contribution to their communities. The Kohl scholarship program accepts applications during the autumn of each year. Adults may nominate students online at Kohl’s corporate website until March 15th each year.
Of all the students who complete a Kohls scholarship application and are nominated, two students from each store throughout the nation are selected to receive a $50 gift card to the store. Of these winners, 170 young people will receive regional undergraduate scholarships. Ten of these regional winners will become national Kohls college scholarship winners.
In addition to winning a free scholarship for college, national winners will have the opportunity to select a charity of their choice. Kohl’s Corporation will then donate $1,000 to each of these charities. Students who are national scholarship award winners will be notified of their achievement in July of each year.
In previous years, the company has recognized students who became involved in their communities in a wide variety of ways. Some students were responsible for organizing efforts to assist in hurricane relief. Others have demonstrated community concern by riding their bicycles for charity efforts. A few students even took the initiative and planted and cared for an urban garden.
These Kohl scholarships grants are unusual because, unlike most academic scholarships, the student’s grade point average does not play a primary factor in the selection of the scholarship recipient. Instead, the student’s ability to focus on the needs of others and make the world a better place is of greater importance.

If you know a student whose idea contributed significantly to a neighborhood or community project, or who has a strong interest in making the world a better place for others, nominating him or her for this university Kohls scholarship grant may be the perfect opportunity to express your approval and respect. Don’t let this unusual scholarship opportunity to recognize someone for caring go to waste because – spread the word today that Kohls cares for kids!
