The Undergraduate CIA Scholarship Program provided by the CIA (Central Intelligence Agency) is one of the most interesting scholarship programs in the USA as it provides the dual opportunity of financial assistance (up to $18K annually) for a college program and a chance to embark a career of your choice with the CIA that includes additional monetary benefits as well. This CIA scholarship program, available for US citizens, allows the applicant to complete their college while working on CIA assignments during summer breaks.

The CIA is an independent agency responsible for providing intelligence on a wide range of national security issues to senior US policymakers. It was formally established in 1947 for coordinating USA’s intelligence activities and correlating, evaluating and disseminating intelligence affecting national security. For more than six decades the agency has been providing unmatched information and support – including intelligence information on crisis situations. To provide live work atmosphere to college graduates the CIA introduced the CIA Scholarships. The organization has distributed more than $ 9 million till date through CIA college scholarships to various individuals.

The CIA Undergraduate Scholarship Program is open for any US citizen above 18 years enrolled as a high school senior or college sophomore who is planning to enroll or already enrolled in a 4-5 year college program. A major criterion for this program is that the applicant should be willing to work during the summer breaks in the Washington DC with the CIA and should ensure consistent academic performance throughout graduation. The tasks assigned are very much related to the college major program. For Example – Information Technology (IT) student would be provided related projects and so on. During the application process, the career path has to be decided and four available (4) positions can be chosen. Various career streams are available for the applicants to choose from. As per the past scholarship beneficiaries can attest, the knowledge gained is unrivalled.

The CIA scholarship application process has to be done online and the entire set of instructions is available there. The online applications need to be done between Aug 01 and Oct 15 only. Various verification checks including background and drug test are a part of the selection process. Once selected the applicant would receive an annual salary, various other benefits & allowances and above all a CIA scholarship amount up to $18 K per annum. After completion of the academics the applicant can continue the employment as well. As per various surveys the starting salary for graduates at the CIA ranges $ 35K to $ 50K per annum with various additional benefits including health insurance, retirement benefits etc. Not bad at all!

The CIA believes in “Contribute to the work of the nation before you graduate” and hence the CIA  Scholarship Program. Working with a prestigious organization like the CIA and getting to work on live assignments provides tremendous exposure and experience at the very early age for the applicants. The intelligence scholarship for undergraduates not only provides your financial assistance for college, but also ensures a long-term career in the intelligence field of the CIA, and is one of the top most government agencies to work for. It may not be for everyone, but some students will love it.

James Hoffa Memorial Scholarship by the Teamsters

James Hoffa Scholarship was established as a memorial in honor of James R Hoffa who was the Teamsters president for (14) years. A Teamsters union scholarship.

James Hoffa Memorial Scholarship
James Hoffa Memorial Scholarship

If one of your parents is a member of the International Brotherhood of Teamsters Union, you may be eligible for the James Hoffa Scholarship. However, there are other requirements that must also be met, and even if you meet those requirements, you may still not be selected for this Hoffa Memorial scholarship, as there is stiff competition. This doesn’t, however mean that you shouldn’t apply if you are eligible. November through March 31st are when you can apply.

The Hoffa scholarship was established as a memorial in honor of James R Hoffa who was the Teamsters president for fourteen years. He began his Teamsters service in 1934 and was highly regarded in the Teamsters union as an acomplished leader who was known for his skillfull ability to carry out the Teamsters agenda.

The James Hoffa Scholarship has been available to the children of the International Brotherhood of Teamsters union members since 1999. While the number of scholarships available each year varies, the average number available is about 100, and the applicants must live in one of the five regions where the union is located. Scholarship amounts total $10,000 or $1000. The $10,000 scholarship is paid out at $2500 per year, for four years, and the funds are paid directly to the college or university.

The requirements for the James Hoffa Memorial Scholarship sound simple enough – you must have a parent who is a member of the union, you must be in the top fifteen percent of your class, you must have great SAT or ACT scores, and you must have a financial need. However, there are other considerations that the committee that chooses the winners takes into account, such as the students overall character.

Students who win this Teamsters scholarship must attend a four year school in the United States or Canada, and the school must be accredited. The student may not attend a school that does not charge tuition. Military academies often do not charge any tuition. It is also important to note that if you win a $10,000 scholarship from the International Brotherhood of Teamsters, the scholarship will only be paid out annually if you meet ongoing criteria.

You must either meet the academic requirements of your school for Teamster scholarship winners, or maintain a 3.00 grade average to continue receiving the Hoffa scholarship funds. Furthermore, if your qualifying parent leaves the union, or fails to pay their union dues while you are still attending school, you will forfeit the Hoffa Memorial Scholarship. These things are verified each year during the four year period.

If you win the James Hoffa scholarship, and you are then unable to attend school, you must have certification from a doctor, and your Teamsters scholarship will be held for you – but not for more than a year. The only exception to this is if you are serving in the military, and you are unable to attend school due to your military obligations. In this case, the scholarship will be held for up to two years, unless there is war, in which case the union scholarship will be held for the winner serving his or her country for a longer period of time.

Although the competition for the James Hoffa Memorial Scholarship is stiff, if you meet the eligibility requirements, you should definitely apply. The application process is the same for both Teamsters scholarship awards – $10,000 and $1000 – and as you know, when it comes to paying for your education, or your child’s education, every little bit helps.

Armed Forces Health Professions Scholarship Program HPSP

The Armed Forces Health Professions Scholarship HPSP for a career in the US Military. Army, Navy, and Air Force all have health professions scholarship programs.

HPSP Scholarships
HPSP Scholarships

If you are interested in entering the medical field in any capacity, you might want to know more about the armed forces health professions scholarship that will also net you a career in the United States Military. The Army, Navy, and Air Force all have health professions scholarship programs, referred to as HPSP, or AFHPSP scholarship for the Air Force, to help you pay for your education in a medical field.

With the armed forces Health Professions Scholarship Program, you will join the service of your choice and you will enter that service as an inactive reservist. At that point, you will attend school to work towards your health care degree. While you are in school, you will be required to serve for forty five days each year. This requirement can be satisfied with weekends and holidays, so that it does not interfere with your education. For each of these forty five days, you will be considered active military, and you will receive pay and all other benefits afforded to military personnel for active duty. If you are required to serve the 45 days consecutively, this can be achieved during the summer months – between semesters. During the first two years of your education, this time will be spent in officers training, in most cases. For the last two years, this time will be spent at a military hospital.

When you are selected for the armed forces Health Professions Scholarship Program, you enter the military as a Second Lieutenant in either the Army Reserve or the Air Force Reserve, or an Ensign in the Navy Reserve. You must also meet certain qualifications to be selected for the program. You must be a United States Citizen and suitable for military duty, and you must meet certain academic qualifications as well.

Different branches of service offer different armed forces health professions scholarships for this program. Note that all HPSP scholarships are post graduate scholarships – for medical school – and they do not offer health professions scholarships for under graduate programs, although there are other military programs designed to pay for under graduate educations. Health professions scholarships available through the Air Force can cover three or four years of school. The Army health professions scholarships can provide funds for one to four years of college. If you are a winner of one of these scholarships, all financial expenses for your education will be met for the length of your scholarship. This includes tuition and fees, books, and equipment, and also includes a monthly stipend as well.

Once you have graduated from your health care program, you will be expected to serve in the military. In most cases, when you agree to use the HPSP scholarship, you are agreeing that you will exchange one year of military service for each year that your education was paid for. The service that you are required to give while in school does not count towards this obligation. You do, however, get a promotion in the military when you graduate from college, if you were awarded the Health Professions Scholarship. If you are in the Army or Air Force, you will be promoted to Captain. If you are in the Navy, you will be promoted to Lieutenant. At that time, you will be moved to active status, and you will complete the required residency through the military – which pays a great deal more than residency programs outside of the military.

With economic forces being uncertain today, think outside the box for a solid and dependable career in the armed forces. It’s not for everyone, but for some it’s a perfect fit. You may discover it could be the best educational move for you at this time. The armed forces have educational packages which are second to none – if this is the field of study you are interested in. Many armed forces scholarship packages cover all expenses which are sometimes irresistible to pass up. An armed forces health professions scholarship program can be your first step.

Work experience is another area that will be examined. Good work experience speaks for itself. The ability to take on responsibility and earn your way is very important.

Although the Best Buy @15 Scholarship began over a decade ago it was not until the 2009 scholarship year that high school grades 9-11 were included in the program. The program used to be for seniors only. Over the past decade Best Buy has sponsored more than $14.5 million dollars in scholarships. The program has assisted over 11,000 students over the years. In 2009 alone over 147,000 students applied for the Best Buy scholarship. This means that 147,000 applicants are competing for only 1000 scholarships. That says a lot about the importance of this program and tuition assistance. Don’t let the numbers discourage you from applying for the Best Buy 15 scholarship though, because many past winners thought they didn’t have much of a chance to win and they did! It is one of the best scholarships for high school students that you can find today.

If you are interested in the exeptional Best Buy 15 scholarship for high school students you can submit your application for the year as long as you do so prior to February 15th. For more information you may visit the Best Buy Scholarships.

Linda Lael Miller Scholarships
Linda Lael Miller Scholarships

The Linda Lael Miller Scholarships for Females are caring essay scholarships. They come from someone who really does care about females who find it hard to move up in life. These essay scholarships for females are one way Linda Lael Miller feels she can help them. Linda Lael Miller is a famous writer who has written many novels whom tends to favor older Western stories. She has penned (80) books and has received many awards for them. She was a struggling mother and clearly understands how tough it can be for females to improve themselves, especially educationally. She believes that if you “educate a woman, countless generations to come will benefit from the investment”. You can’t argue with this theory.

Her Miller Scholarship is for women 25 or older, who just can’t seem to find other ways to finance a higher education. The really nice thing about the Miller scholarships are you can use the money for just about any expense related to college, not just room & board. You must be a legal citizen of the US or Canada to apply & the deadline for all applications is September 1st. Winners are decided by December 15th. The female scholarships that will be paid out in 2009 will total $10,000 combined and the number of them is decided by the Linda Lael Miller scholarship board.

These Linda Lael Miller females scholarships are sort of like an essay scholarship contest. To apply to the Linda Lael Miller Scholarships for females you must complete their application & write a (500) word essay; putting in words your feelings on, exactly why you are applying for the Linda Lael Miller Scholarship, precisely how you would use the funds if you won, how reaching your educational objectives will improve your future, and the dollar amount you would like to receive from the Linda Lael Miller scholarship for females. This all sounds easy enough to do. The essay you write for this female scholarship will be given the most weight in deciding wether you win or not, so make sure it’s clear and easy reading. Keep in mind Linda is a famous writer and your essay will most likely be your best friend in deciding on you as one of the winners of her scholarship. I’m sure the other factors of what the Miller Scholarship committee are looking for will be what’s included on your application as well.

Since the main reason Linda Lael Miller set up her females scholarships was to help women climb to a higher level in life, winners will have to reflect a need to be helped. These truly are female scholarships coming from someone who really cares about helping someone that may not been able to acquire assistance from other sources in furthering their own education & life. It’s refreshing to know there are still good hearted people in today’s world like Linda Lael Miller and her scholarships for females. This tells a lot of what kind of person she really is.

The main aim of the society’s sponsorship for the SPS FUTURE TEACHER SCHOLARSHIP is to promote learning of physics and provide support to individuals with such goals.
ABOUT THE SOCIETY
The Society of Physics Students (SPS) was founded in 1968 as a professional organization designed for students especially physics students. It was a combination of two “parent” associations namely AIP’s (American Institute of Physics) student sections and Sigma Pi Sigma honor society. Currently with 5000 students actively participating in chapter activities the SPS is the fourth largest physics society in the USA.
The society was founded with the main purpose to help students & undergraduates transform themselves into exemplified members of the professional population. During the normal course of studies various skills and characteristics need to be developed including better communication, improved behavioral skills, leadership qualities and many more. The SPS presents opportunities for enhancing these skills to the various members – locally, regionally, nationally & internationally through its various scholarships & awards including SPS Scholarships for Future Teachers.
DETAILS OF AWARD
The SPS FUTURE TEACHER SCHOLARSHIP consists of a top award of $2000 which is intended for physics majors in the latter stages of their undergraduate careers. Only the members of the society are eligible to apply for the scholarship. The applicant must be full-time undergraduate and can apply any time during his/her junior or senior year. However for two-year college applicant he/she should apply after completing one semester of physics. Also the member should have participated in the society’s teacher education program.
To choose the recipients the SPS Scholarship committee considers three major criteria equally
1. Outstanding and consistent performance in physics as well as overall studies.
2. Capability, demonstration & intention for continuous academic development of physics.
3. Active participation in SPS programs.
APPLICATION PROCESS
The application forms are available online or can be obtained from SPS Chapter Advisors and need to be mailed to the SPS office at SPS Scholarships Committee, Society of Physics Students, One Physics Ellipse, College Park, MD 20740. The applications have to be submitted by 15 Feb each year and the announcement of the award recipients is made by the society by April each year.
The application form needs to be fully completed with the entire details about career objectives & participation in SPS activities. Additional sheets (size 8 1/2″ x 11″ sheets) can be added with the application form if required. Each sheet should contain the applicant’s name at the top.
An official, certified, current transcript must be sent directly to the SPS Scholarship Committee by the applicant’s college or university.
Letters of recommendation from at least two full-time members of the faculty are must with the application. These faculty members must be aware about the basis of selection of the recipient. They should comment in light of each of the three criteria. These letters are to be forwarded directly to the SPS Scholarship for future teachers Committee by their authors. The application is not complete until these letters are received by the SPS Scholarship Committee.
Application form consists of checklist for tracking the dates of the application, transcripts and recommendation letters.

The SPS receives support from the American Institute of Physics (AIP). A regular and budgeted source of revenue makes the SPS Scholarships for Future Teachers award possible. The awards are also possible through the generous contributions of Sigma Pi Sigma members and friends. In this way, the physics alumni, and especially Sigma Pi Sigma members, contribute to the generations of students who follow them.

The VFW TEACHER OF THE YEAR SCHOLARSHIP AWARD (also called as the VFW’s National Citizenship Education Teachers’ Award) is sponsored by VFW – Veterans of Foreign Wars – an organization whose mission is to “honor the dead by helping the living” through veterans’ service, community service, national security and a strong national defense. The organization has interest in America’s Youth education and the award is a way to recognize and facilitate America’s top elementary, junior high and high school teachers who educate on citizenship related topics regularly thereby highlighting and promoting America’s history and traditions.

ABOUT the SOCIETY
The VFW was founded in 1899 to safeguard and protect the rights and benefits of the veterans for their service. It has been instrumental in this activity by seeking assistance through VFW’s National Legislative Service and VFW’s National Veterans Service. It is also involved in national security through the VFW’s National security and foreign affairs service. This organization also provides help to educate school children through its various departments. Finally the organization through its members contributes to the society through various community services including active participation in various regional and national events. One of such service is to provide support through the VFW TEACHER OF THE YEAR SCHOLARSHIP AWARD to teachers who promote America’s national tradition and ideals in education.

AWARD DETAILS
The VFW’s National citizenship education teacher award (VFW TEACHER OF THE YEAR SCHOLARSHIP AWARD) is presented annually and consists of $1,000 cash award for teachers in three categories namely K-5, 6-8 and 9-12. A $100 VFW scholarship is presented to the winning teacher’s school and plaques are provided to the teacher as well as the school and an all-expenses-paid trip to attend a VFW and Ladies Auxiliary National Conference.
All the current classroom teachers who are teaching at least half-day at any school in a classroom environment in grades K-12 are eligible. Nominations can be submitted by the fellow teachers, supervisors and other interested individuals. Relatives and self-nomination is not allowed. Also previous state and national VFW winners for the award are ineligible as well.

APPLICATION DETAILS
The nominating individual has to fill in the application form and provide a short essay (less than 350 words) specifying the reason the nominee should be selected for the VFW National Citizenship Education Teacher Award. The essay should describe in detail the teacher’s innovative teaching and resource development methods, as well as his or her dedication to education.

The completed application material needs to be submitted to the local VFW chapters or POST. Based on the nominees submitted, VFW’s local chapters recognize one outstanding teacher in grades K-5, 6-8 and 9-12. These selected winners are then submitted to their District-level judging, who will forward their winners to the Department (or state) level. After judging, each Department then forwards the names of its winners to VFW National Headquarters for consideration in the national awards contest. The last day for nomination is November 01. Local selections are done from Nov 2 to Nov 15.

VFW aims to “Identify and recognize America’s best educators” and understands the need to do so. Unless the teachers are encouraged, the youth will never be able to understand the rich history of America. The VFW TEACHER OF THE YEAR SCHOLARSHIP AWARD provided by Veterans of Foreign Wars is one means to achieve this.

Unique Kohls Scholarship Program Cares for Kids

Kohls really cares for kids, because they have taken a unique Kohls scholarship approach to recognize young people who are active in their communities.

Most college scholarships are primarily for high school or college students. Kohls Corporation really cares for kids, because they have opted to take an unique Kohls scholarship approach to recognize young people who are active in their communities. Through the Kohl’s Kids Who Care Scholarship Program, 2,100 youths aged six to eighteen have a unique opportunity to receive recognition for their community involvement and contributions.

This Kohl’s store scholarship was organized by a corporation that understands that children of all ages are essential members of their communities and have a unique part to play in the lives of those around them. The corporation has taken steps to ensure that every child has a unique opportunity to win college scholarship money. For this reason, students from each of two age groups are chosen for these awards. One group consists of children aged six to twelve. The second group consists of children aged 12 to 18. One student from each group is chosen at each Kohl’s store located throughout the United States to be a recipient of this unique reward.
This Kohls scholarship program, funded by Kohl’s Corporation, has been in operation for eight years, and has awarded over $200,000 annually to students who make a vital contribution to their communities. The Kohl scholarship program accepts applications during the autumn of each year. Adults may nominate students online at Kohl’s corporate website until March 15th each year.
Of all the students who complete a Kohls scholarship application and are nominated, two students from each store throughout the nation are selected to receive a $50 gift card to the store. Of these winners, 170 young people will receive regional undergraduate scholarships. Ten of these regional winners will become national Kohls college scholarship winners.
In addition to winning a free scholarship for college, national winners will have the opportunity to select a charity of their choice. Kohl’s Corporation will then donate $1,000 to each of these charities. Students who are national scholarship award winners will be notified of their achievement in July of each year.
In previous years, the company has recognized students who became involved in their communities in a wide variety of ways. Some students were responsible for organizing efforts to assist in hurricane relief. Others have demonstrated community concern by riding their bicycles for charity efforts. A few students even took the initiative and planted and cared for an urban garden.
These Kohl scholarships grants are unusual because, unlike most academic scholarships, the student’s grade point average does not play a primary factor in the selection of the scholarship recipient. Instead, the student’s ability to focus on the needs of others and make the world a better place is of greater importance.

If you know a student whose idea contributed significantly to a neighborhood or community project, or who has a strong interest in making the world a better place for others, nominating him or her for this university Kohls scholarship grant may be the perfect opportunity to express your approval and respect. Don’t let this unusual scholarship opportunity to recognize someone for caring go to waste because – spread the word today that Kohls cares for kids!

It’s a beautiful day to be awarded an unknown and potentially unclaimed Fred Rogers Memorial scholarship Grant. Most adults remember the kindly older man changing his shoes and singing “It’s a Beautiful Day in the Neighborhood.” This song, played daily on television from 1967 to 2001, was one of his legacies that most of us will remember for the rest of our lives. In fact, he had such an impact on the world of television that the Academy of Television Arts and Sciences Foundation has taken the unusual step of offering a study scholarship in his honor.

This scholarship, known as the Fred Rogers Memorial Scholarship, is offered to three students each academic year. All Fred Rogers scholarship awards are $10,000 each, and are designated for students who are undergraduate juniors or seniors, or are enrolled in graduate school. In addition to winning the Rogers scholarship, students will be mentored by an Academy professional who specializes in children’s television programming.

Mentors from the Los Angeles or New York Academy will be chosen for each student. Typically, a mentor is assigned based on his/her geographical proximity to the student receiving the award. The student and mentor will meet personally, and communicate through telephone and email regularly.

The goal of this award is to remember and honor the memory of Mr. Fred Rogers. In addition, the Academy hopes to help qualified students begin a career in children’s media, and to promote those values and principles which were demonstrated by Mister Rogers’ Neighborhood. Ernst and Young, LLP, are funding this generous scholarship for students.

To apply for this college essay scholarship, an interested student may print out and submit a Fred Rogers scholarship application to the Academy. Students who are awarded this Rogers award must demonstrate a commitment to early childhood education, development, or psychology. They must be pursuing careers in film, television or animation. Successful applicants will desire ultimately to work in career fields related to children’s media.

Additionally, students who come from rural or inner city households will be given higher preference. Students are required to write an essay of up to two pages addressing how they meet the stated Fred Roger scholarship requirements. In addition, they must describe a plan for using the scholarship to help them develop their education in one of three major areas. These areas include research regarding children’s media and personal growth; development of creative concepts in children’s programming; or a professional internship for personal educational growth.

In order to win the Fred Rogers grant for students, two recommendations from faculty or children’s media must be included with the Rogers scholarship application. The Academy will be responsible for reviewing the applications and determining who will receive scholarship awards. If no one is qualified to receive the award in a particular year, the Fred Rogers Memorial scholarship will not be awarded. It would be too bad if it became an unclaimed scholarship.

If you’re interested in pursuing a career in children’s television programming or film media, don’t let this unknown unusual scholarship opportunity go unclaimed to lessen your college expense. Honor the memory of Mr. Rogers and the Land of Make-Believe. Start teaching children how to be a good neighbor with a real-life Fred Rogers college scholarship that will make paying for your college education much easier.
