  • Arthur M Godfrey Aviation Scholarships Grants

    Aviation Scholarships
Arthur M Godfrey Aviation Scholarships Grants

The Arthur M Godfrey Aviation Scholarships Grants are great for those looking for flying scholarships to help pay some of their college tuition. They are not for everyone of course because such a small percentage of students are actually serious enough about going into this type of profession.

This is one field of study that is unique, and only for those who hungered for this since they were a child.

Not many students applying for this aviation scholarship would have known who Arthur Godfrey was, or his past history. He was a radio and TV broadcaster and eventually an entertainer in the 1930’s who had an infectious smile and personality.

He was extremely likable and promoted general aviation in that time; especially for Eastern airlines. While in the military “during the 1950’s Arthur Godfrey had flown every airplane in the U.S. Armed Forces inventory”.

It seems to fit nicely that he would sponsor a flying scholarship. A Foundation (The Arthur M. Godfrey Aviation Foundation, Inc.) was formed upon his death to promote and provide his aviation scholarship.

Arthur M. Godfrey Aviation Foundation, Inc. Flying Scholarships Grants Categories

Two categories of scholarships grants were set up with the Godfrey scholarship. The first one is categorized as A&P Mechanic, The Private Pilot or Light Sport certifications group open to ages 16-20 years old at application time. This is a $10,000 scholarship grant!

The second category is the The Advanced Certification level and is open to ages 18-25 years old at application time. All applicants must have a private pilot license which is current. This scholarship is worth $5,000.

Arthur M. Godfrey Aviation Scholarship Guidelines

    • All who enter give theirs rights to their submission to the The Arthur M. Godfrey Aviation Foundation, Inc.
    • Both categories use the same submission requirements for this competition
    • If under 18 years of age, you must have parents’ written authorization
    • You can only apply to one category
    • September 1st is the deadline date for submissions

What you must do to win the Arthur M. Godfrey Aviation Scholarship

This is the easy part; all you have to do is to submit a video of yourself flying upside down for 5 minutes (no I’m just kidding).

    1. All applicants must develop a video with audio (DVD) which must be at least 12 minutes long and not exceeding 15 minutes in length.
    2. The content of the video is to promote general aviation directed towards an audience of individuals ages 16-20 who are not presently into aviation.
    3. The whole idea of the video is to “help a young person realize their aviation dream”.

This sounds simple enough and even fun too. Those who have a knack for video presentation may do very well on this competition. 12-15 minutes of an aviation promoting video could be worth $5,000 to $ 10,000 to use on college. Seems like a nice trade off to me and time well spent too.

Arthur M. Godfrey Aviation Scholarship Judging Criteria to be used

The judges for these aviation scholarships will evaluate the submitted videos based on the following:

Creativity, enunciation in narrative delivery, clarity of picture quality, visual stability, the person narrating must be the applicant, visual and audio quality, and age appropriate message.

If no video submitted fits all of the above then no scholarship will be awarded.

How you must use the Arthur Godfrey Aviation Scholarship if Awarded to You

    • If you win this aviation scholarship you must go through training with an FAA certified instructor within the US.
    • Scholarships expire in 36 months if not used
    • Flying scholarship winners must demonstrate a normal rate of progression to receive future funding.

There are other smaller restrictions which apply and you must read them thoroughly in the submission guidelines at the Arthur M. Godfrey Aviation Foundation scholarship website.

This website is very simple and easy to understand with many people who submitted their questions and comments about this program. They answer them clearly and are very interesting to read, giving you a better understanding of what this Foundation and their scholarship is all about.

Foundation scholarships and grants are high on our list on awards students should not hesitate to apply to, for they are not as difficult in winning as other higher profile student aid programs where you may have hundred times the applicants.

  • Bowling Green State University Scholarships Grants

Bowling Green State University Scholarships Grants
Bowling Green State University Scholarships Grants

Did you know that more than 80% of the student population at Bowling Green State University (BGSU) are beneficiaries to some form of financial aid, scholarships and grants? This is a significant statistic especially when you take into consideration all the challenges that students go through in order to complete their education.

Financial aid along with scholarships grants are important whenever necessary so that the students are able to pay their way through school. There are so many requirements that students have to pay for in the course of their studies, from books, transportation, personal expenses and so forth. Without the financial support most students will never be able to even come close to achieving the success they dream of throughout their lives.

Bowling Green State University is located in Bowling Green, Ohio just half an hour south of Toledo. Founded back in 1910, the university has been providing students with experiences that make it possible for them to enrich their lives.

It is not just about studies here, but ensuring that the students come out with wholesome ideologies to make it possible for them to deal with career growth, become responsible citizens and be in a good position to engage positively in the global society that we have embraced to date.

This is one of the top schools in the country that lay a strong emphasis nurturing talent from freshman year.

Though all the scholarship grant applications are normally awarded either on merit or financial need, in the event that you need to be considered for an award based on need basis, you will have to complete and submit a FAFSA. Should you decide to do this, do not forget to use the BGSU school code 003018 in your application.

At the moment the institution offers four different types of financial aid; scholarships, grants, loans and employment opportunities. Each of these is structured to help the students in one way or the other.

BGSU currently offers more than $20 million every other year in college scholarships and grants to students. This translates to around 5800 BGSU scholarships grants awarded to students. Such scholarship aid is normally considered as a gift, and because of that the students do not need to repay them.

In order to get recognized for such, the students are selected based on their talent, service to the school community and academic achievement. You have to apply in good time, especially if your scholarship is due for renewal.

Besides the scholarships, BGSU also offers grants to students. Grants, similar to scholarships are not supposed to be repaid back to the institution. It is however important to note that the federal and state grants are normally provided particularly to the low-income students.

Student loans on the other hand have to be paid back. These are normally awarded in order to help the parents meet the cost of education for their kids.

BGSU also offers employment opportunities for the students to help them ease the financial burden of their studies. Every other year the university employs around 4500 students in different departments. The students are expected to work between 10 and 15 hours on a weekly basis, during which they will be paid $7.30 every hour for their services.

As is the case with all the other institutions and financial aid services that are offered to students, it is always a good thing to make sure that you do not miss out on the application deadlines. You are expected to follow keenly the developments through various media and institution outlets so that you are in the loop should there be any changes that might be of interest to you.

Do not forget that in as much as the BGSU grants and scholarships are normally offered to students on a need basis or through academic merit, there are so many other students who apply for consideration, and for this reason you have to make sure that you at least are keen to send in your application as early as possible.

The Michigan Army and Air National Guard Grant normally covers up to 45% of the tuition and fees that students are supposed to pay, but the number of awards varies from time to time.

The Alumni Scholarship for Michigan residents is another award that is available to students whose parents or grandparents are alumnus and live in Michigan. The alumni normally awards $1000 legacy scholarships every other year to 15 students, and you are free to reapply if you need to. Besides, if you graduated from NMU and you live out-of-state, your children can benefit from the Alumni Dependent Tuition Program, as long as they are 24 years or younger. With this benefit program they will be able to pay fees applicable to in-state tuition instead of the higher out-of-state tuition fees.

The Freshman scholarships grants are available for strictly for US citizens/permanent residents who may not have attended any institution after they graduated from high school. These are students who did not go to any college or any institution of learning after they completed their secondary school education.

NMU normally considers the overall GPA on the transcript provided by the high school. However, in the event that the school uses weighted and underweight GPA, the higher of these values will be applied to the selection process.

The school also provides transfer awards, which are also scholarships grants that are provided only for eligible US citizens/permanent residents. It is important to take note of the fact that you may get your scholarship reinstated for the proceeding academic year if you were eligible for renewal by the time you were leaving NMU, if you have not been enrolled in any other institution of learning between the time you left NMU and the time you came back.

You can however get in touch with the admissions office or the financial aid office for more information on a list of scholarships and grants available from NMU, along with the registration deadlines and any other information that might be useful to you.

Northern Michigan University is worth looking into as a place to attend college and the admissions office, along with financial aids, is one of the most accommodating when it comes to awarding scholarships and grants for students.

A Division of Cultural Relations was first established by the State Department in 1938. Since the Bureau’s inception it has worked to create programs as well as international exchanges with a focus on learning about the differences that exist between various cultures and countries. The Fulbright Program is perhaps the most well-known of these programs and was founded in 1946 as a result of legislation started by Senator J. William Fulbright of Arkansas. This goal of this international education program is to increase mutual understanding between other countries of the world and the United States. Like other international education exchanges sponsored by the Bureau, the program seeks to develop world leaders who are capable of promoting a better understanding of the United States internationally.

The Bureau also offers a number of special initiatives, including the Global Cultural Initiative. The goal of this program is to build and assemble numerous talents and resources of cultural institutions in America in an effort to support international cultural diplomacy efforts. To meet this goal, the initiative focuses on a partnership between the U.S. government and the private sector by connecting foreign audiences with art forms and artists in the U.S.

In addition, the World Cup Sports Initiative is sponsored by the Bureau. Through this initiative, soccer clinics are sponsored by U.S. Soccer National Team players and coaches in Bahrain, South Africa, Uganda and Nigeria as a way of demonstrating how leadership, respect, teamwork and conflict resolution can achieve academic achievement and life skills.

The Bureau also operates the International Cultural Protection Program. The Convention on Cultural Property Implementation Act is executed through this program and views requests from countries in regards to limiting importation of ethnological or archaeological artifacts into the United States.

  • Unknown and Unclaimed Fred Rogers Memorial Scholarship Grant

It’s a beautiful day to be awarded an unknown and potentially unclaimed Fred Rogers Memorial scholarship Grant. Most adults remember the kindly older man changing his shoes and singing “It’s a Beautiful Day in the Neighborhood.” This song, played daily on television from 1967 to 2001, was one of his legacies that most of us will remember for the rest of our lives. In fact, he had such an impact on the world of television that the Academy of Television Arts and Sciences Foundation has taken the unusual step of offering a study scholarship in his honor.

This scholarship, known as the Fred Rogers Memorial Scholarship, is offered to three students each academic year. All Fred Rogers scholarship awards are $10,000 each, and are designated for students who are undergraduate juniors or seniors, or are enrolled in graduate school. In addition to winning the Rogers scholarship, students will be mentored by an Academy professional who specializes in children’s television programming.

Mentors from the Los Angeles or New York Academy will be chosen for each student. Typically, a mentor is assigned based on his/her geographical proximity to the student receiving the award. The student and mentor will meet personally, and communicate through telephone and email regularly.

The goal of this award is to remember and honor the memory of Mr. Fred Rogers. In addition, the Academy hopes to help qualified students begin a career in children’s media, and to promote those values and principles which were demonstrated by Mister Rogers’ Neighborhood. Ernst and Young, LLP, are funding this generous scholarship for students.

To apply for this college essay scholarship, an interested student may print out and submit a Fred Rogers scholarship application to the Academy. Students who are awarded this Rogers award must demonstrate a commitment to early childhood education, development, or psychology. They must be pursuing careers in film, television or animation. Successful applicants will desire ultimately to work in career fields related to children’s media.

Additionally, students who come from rural or inner city households will be given higher preference. Students are required to write an essay of up to two pages addressing how they meet the stated Fred Roger scholarship requirements. In addition, they must describe a plan for using the scholarship to help them develop their education in one of three major areas. These areas include research regarding children’s media and personal growth; development of creative concepts in children’s programming; or a professional internship for personal educational growth.

In order to win the Fred Rogers grant for students, two recommendations from faculty or children’s media must be included with the Rogers scholarship application. The Academy will be responsible for reviewing the applications and determining who will receive scholarship awards. If no one is qualified to receive the award in a particular year, the Fred Rogers Memorial scholarship will not be awarded. It would be too bad if it became an unclaimed scholarship.

If you’re interested in pursuing a career in children’s television programming or film media, don’t let this unknown unusual scholarship opportunity go unclaimed to lessen your college expense. Honor the memory of Mr. Rogers and the Land of Make-Believe. Start teaching children how to be a good neighbor with a real-life Fred Rogers college scholarship that will make paying for your college education much easier.

  • The Unusual MOST Memphis Scholarships Grants

The unusual Memphis scholarships grants now offer eligible students funds for private education at either the elementary or secondary level. If your tired of the increasing illiteracy rates and decrease in the number of high school graduates, the officials of Memphis, Tennessee, are turning to a new way to offer educational incentives to excel in school.

This Memphis scholarship fund, known as the Memphis Opportunity Scholarship Trust, or MOST, is designed to help students make the most of their educational future. Through these Memphis scholarship grants, students receive tuition money to help defray the cost of private school educations. The Memphis opportunity scholarship are awarded without regard to race, gender, religion, or academic achievement.

The Memphis scholarship program was begun in 1998 by a group of private businessmen to provide scholarships for the disabled. Since that time, the fund has assisted more than 2,000 children to gain access to educational opportunities otherwise closed to them. This fund is matched, in part, by the Children’s Scholarship Fund, a nationwide organization dedicated to making tuition assistance money available to students throughout the United States.

How effective is this program? Most children who attend private schools under these Memphis scholarships regularly exceed the academic scores of their peers on standardized tests. Furthermore, both the parents and students reported greatly increased satisfaction with the education the children received as a result of these Memphis scholarship opportunities.

Currently, Memphis Opportunity Scholarship Trust applications are being accepted only for students in pre-K through grade 1. Older students may be considered for Memphis scholarship assistance only if they have some type of documented disability, and will be attending a school that specializes in assisting children with this disability.

More than 70 private and charter schools in the area cooperate with the Memphis Scholarship Fund to offer recipients this unique chance to overcome the obstacles presented through substandard public school education. Although the Memphis scholorship does cover up to three-fourths of the cost of these institutions, parents are required to pay the remainder of the cost out of pocket, which can still present a hardship for some.

Students who qualify for the Memphis scholarships may continue to receive the awards through their eighth grade of education. They may do so provided that their family continues to meet criteria for financial need. In addition, the family must pay the remaining tuition to the school without defaulting on the expense. On average, MOST scholarships cover approximately one-fourth of the cost of the tuition at a private university.

For those students who excel academically, high school MOST scholarships are also available. These scholarships, which help to defray the cost of tuition, are awarded on a competitive basis. Students who receive these Memphis Opportunity Scholarship Trust scholarships may receive up to $2,150 to help with private school tuition.

MOST Memphis scholarships offer young people an unusual chance to succeed and improve their educational prospects. Although this requires a significant commitment of time and money from the parents, most of those who enroll under the MOST scholarship program believe the financial sacrifice is worthwhile; the added benefits offered by a private school that excels academically will last for a lifetime.
