    Looking for Unclaimed Scholarships

According to the website unclaimedscholarships.us, a site about unclaimed scholarships, the fact that so many people around the world turn towards scholarships to pay for their college education is very well-known; but what many people may not be aware of is that there are millions of dollars specifically kept away by different enterprises, individuals, universities and organizations AS “unclaimed college scholarships” to support students to pay their college cost who are in need of financial assistance.

So the question arises is: how do these scholarships remain unclaimed money?

The thing is; students do require those finances, but most of the times it so happens, that they are oblivious of the existence of these out of sight scholarships, which leads them to be unclaimed by those who meet all the criteria necessary to win it.

It is easy to comprehend that if a person is ignorant of the fact that these mostly hidden scholarships, are out there waiting to be awarded, then how will one apply to them?

Well; this is where the real effort of the applicant lies. If they dig deep and find out information about how they can apply for such out of view scholarships to help pay their college cost, then there will be less and less of those unclaimed college scholarships.

The internet is a very resourceful aid to help guide you through your search for scholarships. Nothing of value which is worth getting comes easy, and due to this reason students need to work with dedication and determination to research for the UN-awarded scholarships online.

If a few hours are spent in rigorous research for unclaimed scholarship funds, it may be VERY beneficial for the student over a longer period of time. With such a return on the investment of time, students should not pass it up and look for the hard to find scholarships, and apply; as that is the first and most significant step towards attaining an unclaimed scholarship.

Graduating students do not want to look at a huge bill at the end of his or her college education in the form of student loans if they can help it, and when they have the option to do something for it – why not take it up and look aggressively before or during college.

Most of the unused scholarships are conventional in terms of qualification. Many scholarships require the student to graduate with the highest grades in their class, do very well in their SAT’s, or ACT’s, and maybe play sports as well.

BUT, with many of these ‘unclaimed college scholarships’, these things are NOT the top priority. On the other hand, they look for unique features in students, and something they may be passionate about like Music, Film-making, Poetry, writing, sports, or even their various hobbies.

Normally; these unclaimed scholarships are not so rigid in terms of the students’ characteristics. They just look for the spark of creativity and the eagerness to learn in a student.

A link on www.twitter.com/scholarships explains unclaimed scholarships to be accessible everywhere for students. These scholarships have a set criterion for the students who are applying, if they cover all aspects of that criterion they are granted that scholarship, but if not, then the scholarship remains unclaimed.

***Look for lesser-known local scholarships. If your high school posts a local scholarship description on their website, check it out! Then, check other area high schools’ sites as well. If you are a standout student in math, research the local math magnet schools’ sites. If you starred in your school play, check the sites of area schools known for their strong drama programs to see what scholarships you can apply to.

    Reasons for Unclaimed Scholarships

Many a time’s, students are unaware of these scholarships being available for them, so they do not bother applying, and this also leads to the formation of the unclaimed scholarship.

Sometimes it just so happens that students did apply for the scholarships and they won, but they never followed through with the process of accepting them. This usually happens when the student who won has a sudden or as we would call a ‘last minute’ change of plans in regards of his or her college career. Those scholarship funds which then remain unclaimed which due to an abrupt adjustment in plans could not be used.

There are plenty of funds in the form of unclaimed scholarships, students should be vigilant not to let that money pass by. Instead they should do all they can to help ensure they are able to apply for it, then work hard to qualify for it, and to acquire that to pay for a college education. The less the burden of payment of the college fee is on your shoulders, the better off you’re going to be in the long run – especially after graduation!

  • Unclaimed Scholarships for College – Do they really Exist?

    Unclaimed College Scholarships
    Unclaimed Scholarships

Are you looking for a way to pay for your college education? Have you heard that millions of dollars in unknown unclaimed scholarships are available to you? There isn’t really unclaimed college scholarships sitting around for anyone to claim – but there are unclaimed scholarship opportunities you really need to be aware of because there are lots of them. Some scholarship sponsors will actually not award a scholarship on a particular year simply because there wasn’t enough applicants who applied and they didn’t even come close to matching up to their scholarship criteria. This tells you that you should apply to all unknown scholarships you can apply to even if your close to the qualifying criteria for a particular scholarship.

The first thing that you need to know is that while each scholarship has its requirements that must be met for eligibility, the majority of scholarships that are available do not require you to be a genius or a saint. If you have average grades, and you’ve lived an average life – meaning that you do not have numerous accomplishments or you haven’t done much civic work – you are still eligible for hundreds of different scholarships.

With that said, the fact concerning unclaimed scholarships is that most scholarship awards actually are claimed. Few go unclaimed, however there are many unclaimed college scholarships that are actually not awarded each year simply because there were no suitable applicants – or there were no applicants at all. These sometimes are referred to as unclaimed scholarships. A student who would have been close to the criteria might have picked up an easy scholarship if they’d applied!

Often, this type of unclaimed scholarship is unclaimed because the amount of the award was very small – and future college students simply went after the larger awards. This is why it is so important not to overlook any obscure scholarships that you may be eligible for, regardless of the award amount.

Make sure that you check out information concerning weird scholarships, as you very well may be eligible for several of those awards, and fewer people apply for those awards because you must have a unique and rare talent to apply and win. Check out local scholarship opportunities, state opportunities, national opportunities, and of course industry specific opportunities. Don’t overlook civic organizations that have scholarship opportunities, including clubs that you belong to, that your parents belong to, or that your grandparents belong to.

In reality, almost all college scholarships have many more applicants than available funds that will be doled out. The few college scholarships that do go unclaimed can’t be claimed because of restrictive selection criteria. For example, the Zolp scholarship is available only for students at Loyola University of Chicago born with the last name of Zolp. The name must appear on their birth certificate, and no, you cannot change your name to qualify for the award.

If you are looking for unclaimed scholarships that exist because a student won the award, and then didn’t attend school, or dropped out of school, you may save time by realizing that in most cases, the award will immediately be given to someone else who already applied for the scholarship and did not win it – but came close – or the funds will revert back to the scholarship fund, and will not be awarded again until the following application period.

There is one form of financial aid that does go unclaimed every year, and that’s the Federal Pell Grant. This is a government grant  for need based students given out when students fill out their FAFSA. According to Edvisors, about (3) million students in 2013-14 who did not file the FAFSA, would have qualified for a Federal Pell Grant. That’s just a few years ago! With college often taking more than four years, many of those students who didn’t file are likely still in school. Of them, 1.3 million would have qualified for the maximum Federal Pell Grant allowed. Those qualified students could have received a maximum amount of $5,645 in Pell Grant awards in the 2013-2014 application cycle. You can ask now, how much money will be left on the table in 2018?

Be very skeptical of websites and other advertisements that offer to get you information on millions of dollars of unclaimed scholarships for a fee. The information that they deliver to you will not be worth the paper that it is printed on, and mostly you will just receive information that you can get anywhere for free, in terms of how to tap various sources for scholarship funds. Purchasing such information is a waste of your time and money.

Understand that you must work to get scholarships for college, and this includes unclaimed scholarships. No matter what scholarships you might receive, filling out the FAFSA annually should be at the top of your priority list. Nobody is just going to hand you money for college because it was lying around unused. The best way to get the funds that you need, is to apply for every scholarship that you are eligible for (time permitting), and realize going into it that this takes a great deal of time and effort on your part. This is the real meaning of finding unclaimed scholarships!

Information on ScholarshipsGrants.us tells that if such a scenario comes forth, the grant will immediately be given to another candidate who already applied for the scholarship and did not win it or the funds will go back to the scholarship program and will stand unclaimed.

Care and skepticism should be practiced while surfing the internet and browsing websites for scholarships and advertisements that offer to get you information on millions of dollars of unclaimed scholarships for a fee. • Unknown and Unclaimed Fred Rogers Memorial Scholarship Grant

It’s a beautiful day to be awarded an unknown and potentially unclaimed Fred Rogers Memorial scholarship Grant. Most adults remember the kindly older man changing his shoes and singing “It’s a Beautiful Day in the Neighborhood.” This song, played daily on television from 1967 to 2001, was one of his legacies that most of us will remember for the rest of our lives. In fact, he had such an impact on the world of television that the Academy of Television Arts and Sciences Foundation has taken the unusual step of offering a study scholarship in his honor.

This scholarship, known as the Fred Rogers Memorial Scholarship, is offered to three students each academic year. All Fred Rogers scholarship awards are $10,000 each, and are designated for students who are undergraduate juniors or seniors, or are enrolled in graduate school. In addition to winning the Rogers scholarship, students will be mentored by an Academy professional who specializes in children’s television programming.

Mentors from the Los Angeles or New York Academy will be chosen for each student. Typically, a mentor is assigned based on his/her geographical proximity to the student receiving the award. The student and mentor will meet personally, and communicate through telephone and email regularly.

The goal of this award is to remember and honor the memory of Mr. Fred Rogers. In addition, the Academy hopes to help qualified students begin a career in children’s media, and to promote those values and principles which were demonstrated by Mister Rogers’ Neighborhood. Ernst and Young, LLP, are funding this generous scholarship for students.

To apply for this college essay scholarship, an interested student may print out and submit a Fred Rogers scholarship application to the Academy. Students who are awarded this Rogers award must demonstrate a commitment to early childhood education, development, or psychology. They must be pursuing careers in film, television or animation. Successful applicants will desire ultimately to work in career fields related to children’s media.

Additionally, students who come from rural or inner city households will be given higher preference. Students are required to write an essay of up to two pages addressing how they meet the stated Fred Roger scholarship requirements. In addition, they must describe a plan for using the scholarship to help them develop their education in one of three major areas. These areas include research regarding children’s media and personal growth; development of creative concepts in children’s programming; or a professional internship for personal educational growth.

In order to win the Fred Rogers grant for students, two recommendations from faculty or children’s media must be included with the Rogers scholarship application. The Academy will be responsible for reviewing the applications and determining who will receive scholarship awards. If no one is qualified to receive the award in a particular year, the Fred Rogers Memorial scholarship will not be awarded. It would be too bad if it became an unclaimed scholarship.

If you’re interested in pursuing a career in children’s television programming or film media, don’t let this unknown unusual scholarship opportunity go unclaimed to lessen your college expense. Honor the memory of Mr. Rogers and the Land of Make-Believe. Start teaching children how to be a good neighbor with a real-life Fred Rogers college scholarship that will make paying for your college education much easier.
