    The Bureau of Educational and Cultural Affairs scholarships grants offer a range of opportunities for students who are pursuing educational goals. The Bureau is part of the United States Department of State and was established to foster mutual understanding between Americans and people of other countries from around the world. Through this organization, there are several cultural exchange programs which are operated to meet this goal. The Bureau was mandated as part of the Mutual Educational and Cultural Exchange Act of 1961.

    The range of educational programs operated by the Bureau is quite varied and is based on the benefits of international cultural and educational exchange, mutual understanding and leadership development. The ECA Bureau works to engage students, youth, educators, athletes, artists and rising leaders through numerous fields in the U.S. as well as some 160 countries. This is accomplished through cultural, academic, professional and sports exchanges. By striving to reflect the United States’ diversity and global society, the Bureau’s programs, activities and funding have encouraged involvement of both American as well as international participants from groups that were previously underrepresented. This includes women as well as people with disabilities and racial and ethnic minorities. Alumni of the ECA are composed of more than 1 million people from around the world. This includes 50 Nobel Laureates as well as 350 current as well as former heads of state and government.

    A Division of Cultural Relations was first established by the State Department in 1938. Since the Bureau’s inception it has worked to create programs as well as international exchanges with a focus on learning about the differences that exist between various cultures and countries. The Fulbright Program is perhaps the most well-known of these programs and was founded in 1946 as a result of legislation started by Senator J. William Fulbright of Arkansas. This goal of this international education program is to increase mutual understanding between other countries of the world and the United States. Like other international education exchanges sponsored by the Bureau, the program seeks to develop world leaders who are capable of promoting a better understanding of the United States internationally.

    The Bureau also offers a number of special initiatives, including the Global Cultural Initiative. The goal of this program is to build and assemble numerous talents and resources of cultural institutions in America in an effort to support international cultural diplomacy efforts. To meet this goal, the initiative focuses on a partnership between the U.S. government and the private sector by connecting foreign audiences with art forms and artists in the U.S.

    In addition, the World Cup Sports Initiative is sponsored by the Bureau. Through this initiative, soccer clinics are sponsored by U.S. Soccer National Team players and coaches in Bahrain, South Africa, Uganda and Nigeria as a way of demonstrating how leadership, respect, teamwork and conflict resolution can achieve academic achievement and life skills.

    The Bureau also operates the International Cultural Protection Program. The Convention on Cultural Property Implementation Act is executed through this program and views requests from countries in regards to limiting importation of ethnological or archaeological artifacts into the United States.

One of those special groups of people is Mothers. Various companies and educational facilities around the country offer their version of college scholarships for Mothers –  especially single Mothers. If you are a single Mom and have custody of your child or children; then you are almost guaranteed to get some financial assistance towards your college education.

    Just about every college or university has their own version of “Mother “Scholarships.” It is hard enough to pay for a college education today, let alone be a single Mother with children. Every educational facility will have a specific set of criteria that will have to be met. In addition, the amount of the scholarship or award will differ from educational facility to educational facility. The important fact to be known is; there are financial opportunities for those single mothers who want the assistance. Let’s take a look at just a few of the schools that offer single mother scholarships.

    1. Florida George Snow Scholarship Fund Scholarships for Single Parents– This scholarship has paid out more than $3,500,000 to over 900 students in needs over the years. They have over 47 different scholarship programs. Some of those are geared towards single Mothers.
    2. Minnesota State University Coplan Donohue Single Parent Scholarship- This is not a financial need based scholarship. This program offers $1,000 in financial assistance to those single Mothers who demonstrate a commitment to parenting and are going to fulfill their educational commitment at Minnesota State University. The Mother should have 30 completed semester credits and be a U.S. Citizen. Those Mothers interested can fill out the Coplan Donohue Single Parent Scholarship Form and submit an essay describing your beliefs on Motherhood and also listing your future goals. You will also need 3 letters of reference and your transcripts.
    3. Wisconsin – The University of Wisconsin – Eau Claire Single Parent Scholarships- Here they offer 5 different scholarships for mothers geared towards helping Moms. The criteria and award varies between $500 and $1,000.

     

    General Mother Scholarships

    In general, a Mother will not find it hard to find financial aid if they want to pursue post high school education. Just about every state has some type of support for this situation. Another place to turn is the government. The government had dedicated a portion of the Stimulus Package money to helping Mothers go back to school. There are some companies and organizations that are awarding $10,000 mother scholarships and then there are great Pell Grants as well. Unlike student loans; these do not have to be repaid. If you are a Mother and you want to get the education you could not afford; or couldn’t complete because you had children; there are good mom scholarship programs and mother financial college assistance out there to assist you.

  • NWLB (No Worker Left Behind) in Michigan are Easy Scholarships

    Here’s a different twist on finding fast and easy scholarships to pay for your college tuition. If you default into this *NWLB – No Michigan Worker Left Behind criteria then it will pay for your college for two years. You won’t have to do anything but apply for the *NWLB Michigan program and your tuition is covered. Now that’s a simple scholarship to get. Here’s how it works.

    If you live in Michigan, and you are unemployed or about to be laid off, you may be eligible to obtain an education courtesy of the *NWLB (No Worker Left Behind) Michigan Program. The purpose of this program is not only to educate Michigan residents, but to educate those residents in a way that prepares them for emerging knowledge-based job opportunities in the state of Michigan.

    While the initial goal of the NWLB (No Worker Left Behind) Michigan Program was to help 100,000 workers to obtain the skills that they needed to get back to work, or to start work in a more advanced industry, the program has been successful – to the point where more than 80,000 residents have participated, that the program will far exceed that goal.

    If you are eligible for the program, you will receive $5000 each year for your education, for two years. The total amount cannot exceed $10,000, and you must finish your educational program within four years. Only certain programs are approved for the easy scholarship tuition program, and some examples of these programs include biotechnology, advanced manufacturing, health care, and renewable energy.

    In order to be eligible for the program, you must be unemployed, have received notice that you will be terminated or laid off. If you are working, you must not have a total annual family income of more than $40,000. In either instance, you must be eighteen years of age or older, and if you are between the ages of eighteen and twenty-three, you cannot have been a high school graduate within the past two years. You cannot currently be a full-time college student.

    There are, of course, additional requirements for the NWLB (No (Michigan) Worker Left Behind) program. You must attend a school in Michigan, and this school must be an approved training program, or a Michigan University or community college. You must also take a skill assessment through a Michigan Works Agency. Obviously, you must be a resident of Michigan. All simple criteria for fast & easy scholarships for Michigan students.

    In order to apply for this tuition program, you must visit your local Michigan Works Agency (MWA). Each agency will differ in terms of how the application process is carried out, and the amount of time that it takes to get a decision. Because of the overwhelming popularity of the program, there is a backlog, so make sure that you apply as soon as possible to take advantage of this short-term opportunity.

    If you are concerned about the degree programs that will be approved for the tuition program, you can be certain that there are a wide range of programs that qualify. For example, all of the degree and certificate programs offered at Walsh College in Michigan qualify for the program.

    Before you visit the Michigan Works Agency to apply for the program, you should visit the college that you will be attending, in Michigan, to talk to a student counselor and determine which degree or certificate program will work best for you so you can land one of these easy scholarships. However, again, you will have to take a skill assessment test through the MWA as well.

    It is important to understand that when the NWLB Michigan (No Worker Left Behind) Program was established that it was set for a three-year period, beginning in August of 2007. This means that unless the program is renewed, August of 2010 will be your last opportunity to take advantage of this free tuition opportunity. Chances are it will continue with the current (2009) state of the Michigan economy. If you fit the above criteria and college is in your future plans then this is one of the easiest scholarships you will find today.

    Since Jeanette was noted for being a proponent of peace and women’s rights, her lasting desire was to spearhead her cause where she felt really had the most impact; and that was in helping those women in need who had very few other opportunities to help themselves. It was in this spirit the Rankin Scholarship materialized and each year gets stronger & stronger because of the large number of single mothers who need financial educational assistance.

    For 2009, JRF awarded a total of (80) JRF scholarships for single mothers and approximately half were awarded to new students while the other half were awarded to renewing scholars. The amount normally is $2000 per winner and are presented to those who fit the JRF Scholarship criteria. The exact number of JRF Grants scholarships for mothers is posted November 1st every year and by July 1st all the winners will be announced.     To qualify; all applicants must be a women of course who is 35 or older, having low-income according to the ‘U.S. Department of Labors Lower Living Standard’, pursuing a technical or vocational education, an associate degree, or a first bachelor’s degree at an accredited school or accepted at one, and lastly must be an US citizen.

    In the JRF scholarship application, you will be required to write about your goals, your plan for reaching your goals, challenges you may have faced, & your financial situation to give the Jeannette Rankin Foundation Scholarship committee a clear picture of exactly who you are and why you should be awarded this single mother college scholarship. Be clear and descriptive.

    The Toshiba ExploraVision Scholarship Awards from NSTA have been around for nearly (2) decades and are not showing any signs of decline or interest. To the contrary the ExploraVision program is becoming more popular and respected because it’s one fun scholarship to participate in & try and win.     The National Science Teachers Association (NSTA) manages these awards which were created in 1992. Since that time almost a quarter of a million students have competed in quest of the savings bonds worth $5,000 and $10,000 dollars. A teacher serves as a coach for each team. That coach is responsible for assembling the entry paperwork with their team and then submitting that paperwork to the NSTA. It all begins when each team chooses a technology that exists in their lives. Before each team presents their vision for this technology in the future they must first explain how it works and then present why, how and when it was invented. At this point they can then present their vision of the technology in the future. Each team must prepare a complete and accurate report of their entire report and vision.

    This Toshiba ExploraVision Awards presents (4) teams with a $10,000 first prize savings bond. They also award (4) runner up teams with $5,000 savings bonds. In addition, all winning teams receive an expense paid trip to the nations capitol in June with their parents to participate in the awards ceremony.     The Stephen Phillips Scholarship

    The Steven Phillips Scholarship was created in the memory of; you guessed it, Steven Phillips. Steven Phillips descended from a ‘well to do’ Salem, Massachusetts’s family that shared a respected interest in politics and education. Steven Phillips was a very compassionate man who took an honest interest in all whom he meant. His widow Bessie Wright Phillips established the Stephen Phillips Memorial Scholarship in his memory.

    The whole purpose of the Stephen Phillips Scholarship was to assist those students attending college that were in danger of being overcome with financial woes. Typically this scholarship gives away anywhere from $3000 to $10,000 annually. The great part is this award can be renewed. As long as the student maintains a 2.5 GPA and their financial situation do not sway drastically they can receive the award through four undergraduate years. The money does have to be paid directly to the school and be applied only towards tuition. As long as the student is a high school senior preparing to enter college or a returning university student at a U.S. accredited institution than they are eligible. These awards are only used for undergraduate study.

    In addition, only students that are permanent residents of Vermont, Massachusetts, New Hampshire, Rhode Island, Maine and Connecticut may apply for the Phillips Memorial Scholarship. They can be attending any accredited school in the country but they must be permanent residents of New England. The only downside is that preference will be shown to students from the Salem or North Boston area. However, all others eligible are encouraged to apply and are always considered for a Phillips Scholarship.

    The criterion to apply for the Steven Phillips Scholarship is quite common. You must be a U.S. Citizen or Resident Alien. Must be a permanent resident of New England. You should also have a GPA of 3.0 or higher when you apply. Your course of study should be demanding and you should present skilled writing ability. Character is also important in the decision making process. The applicant should have a positive view and desire to enhance society. Student should be involved in school, work and community activities. The student should be a goal setter that knows what they want and how they intend to get there.

    A student that is willing to work part-time to assist with their college expenses will be well perceived. Students must present financial need due to heavy student loans or other special financial situations. They should have a low EFC or expected family contribution listed on their financial aid report.

    The deadline date for the Phillips Scholarship is April 1st. This year there were 145 recipients. A total of 390 scholarships were renewed. For those who missed entry this year they are encouraged to apply before April 1st for the next round of awards. These $3000 to $10,000 scholarships can be yours if you are a U.S. Citizen or Resident Alien, are a permanent resident of New England, have financial need and carry a 3.0 GPA or better. If you have great character and undeniable drive and determination you could be the next Stephen Phillips Memorial Scholarship recipient.

    The Robert Byrd Scholarship Program funded federally by the US Department of Education & administered by the various states, is monumental in terms of the number of Robert Byrd Scholarships awarded every year and one of the major programs that recognizes and rewards brilliant high school seniors and ensures excellence in education at high secondary level is achieved.     The Harry S Truman Scholarship was created in 1975 by the US Congress in honor of the 33rd president. The Harry S. Truman Scholarship Foundation manages the Truman Scholarship. Since the Foundation is an independent federal executive branch Agency, the Truman Scholarship is a federal scholarship. Congress decided that The Harry Truman Scholarship will be the official Federal memorial to President Truman instead of a statue.

    The sole purpose of the Truman Scholarship is to discover and award future leaders by empowering them with the Truman Scholarship Program so their accomplishments can be accelerated. The Truman Foundation believes this will also have a greater impact on the rest of our society and for the better. Truman scholars desire to change the world for the better, but they all may have a different way of doing this, such as becoming a Senator or Congressman/woman who want to help people by getting those things done in government. A Truman scholar may also accomplish this by becoming a school president and lead by example which may positively influence every student & teacher who passes through the University. There is no one way that a Truman scholar is supposed to lead & spread their influence, they just do and their impact is felt by many.     Harry S Truman Scholarship Foundation Guidelines & Criteria

    1. Awarded to College Juniors only.
    2. Approximately (70) Truman Scholarships are awarded annually – very large scholarship program.
    3. Currently Truman scholars receive $30,000 for (3) years of graduate education strictly for a career in public service.
    4. Truman Scholars have the benefit of the Truman Scholars Association to network with past Truman scholarship winners.
    5. Must be of service on campus as well as in the community.
    6. Must be committed to a career in public service such as in government, uniformed public service, public research &education, or public interest or advocacy organizations.
    7. Must have good communication skills and the ability to easily bring about change for the betterment of all.
    8. Must have the academic ability to be accepted & excel in graduate school.
    9. Truman Scholars must have all skills necessary & desire to bring about positive changes in communities everywhere for the good of all people.
    10. Truman Scholarship written applications are required at Universities along with personal interviews who will then select up to (4) candidates ((3) transfer students can be selected too).

    Going into public service does have its challenges but the rewards far out way them. Public service is not for everyone, but reserved for those who really do want to make a better difference in our world today, and are willing to fight some really tough battles along the way for change which the majority will ultimately benefit from. You must have personal qualities that are multifaceted and the desire & drive to put those qualities in action on the playing field of  life.     ABOUT THE AWARD
    The CATCHING THE DREAM (CTD), formerly known as the Native American Scholarship Fund, is a set of Scholarships for Native Americans aimed to provide the Native American tribes, organization and community a chance for higher education to grow and succeed in professional life. The aim of the award is to “Prepare Exemplary Students to become Native Scholars”. The Native American scholarships and grants are spread across various fields of study including engineering, business, technology, medical, administration, banking and many more.

    There are three different CTD Native American college scholarships which are listed below.

    MESBEC Program
    This program is the oldest of the CTD programs and is given for the six priority field of study Mathematics, Engineering, Science, Business, and Education & Computers. These study areas are the priority fields for the tribe and hence the award name is based on the fields. Very few tribal graduates are present in these studies currently. Medical studies are also included in this program.
    NALE Program
    The Native American Leadership Education (NALE) program is for students who are paraprofessionals and plan to complete their degree in education, counseling or administration. The program aims to have more tribal teachers to lead educational growth.
    TBM Program
    The Tribal Business Management (TBM) program is to get economic development for the tribes by sponsoring the students to choose business, finance, management, economics, banking, hotel management and related fields.

    APPLICATION CRITERIA
    All the CTD scholarships for Native American students programs are operated at national level and are available to the Native Americans that are enrolled member of the US tribe. The scholarship requirements for the students are as below:
    •Must be ¼ or more degree American Indian
    •Currently attending or planning to attend a College or University in the US on full-time basis
    •Must have excellent academic record, high ACT or SAT scores, with leadership capabilities and commitment for community
    •Must apply for other sources for financial aid including federal financial aid, private scholarships & others
    •Need to have clear goals for the future to enhance the quality of life for the tribes

    The CTD Scholarships for Native Americans are in the range of $500 to $5,000 per academic year and are awarded based on merit and to the students that are likely to improve the lives of tribal community. The application form is available at the website and is mandatory to be used. The deadline for the Native American Scholarship (CTD Scholarship) application process is as below:
    •April 15 for fall
    •September 15 for spring
    •March 15 for summer

    ABOUT THE AWARD
    The INDIAN AMERICAN SCHOLARSHIPS for college awarded by the IASF (Indian American Scholarship Fund) is a medium to assist high school students with excellent academic credentials for their college education. The IASF provides scholarships for Indian American students based on the merit and financial need. IASF has been set-up by the Indian American Cultural Association (IACA) to promote education for the students of Indian community in Georgia.

    ABOUT THE ORGANIZATION
    The IASF was founded in 1993 by the (IACA) in Atlanta and was registered as a non-profit organization in the state of Georgia with the goal of promoting & sponsoring higher education for the Asian-Indian descent within the state. It supports various INDIAN AMERICAN SCHOLARSHIP programs ranging from one year Indian scholarships to four year scholarships for the brilliant students from Georgian high schools. Annually it provides financial assistance to the tune of $35,000 through these programs. The organization (IACA) through this fund also provides financial aid to the students based on monetary need & is linked with the merit scholarships. IACA has been working actively since the past 36 years in Atlanta to serve the Indian community through its various initiatives.

    APPLICATION PROCESS
    Overall there are four (4) major scholarships for American Indians by IASF provided for the scholars that are graduating from the qualified high schools of Georgia. Below are the generic criteria for application.
    • Enrollment for 4-year course in any college or university
    • Graduate from any Georgia high school
    • Excellent academic record (SAT/ACT scores also accounted)
    • Financial Need
    • Asian Indian origin (At least one grand-parent born in free India)
    • Extra-curricular activities and other awards

    The INDIAN AMERICAN Scholarship Fund has various awards as below.
    • 4-year scholarship (No of winners – 4)
    • 2-year scholarship (No of winners – 1)
    • 1-year scholarship (No of winners – 8 to 12)
    • Best Essay scholarship

    ABOUT THE AWARD
    The HOPE Scholarship Georgia Program aims to provide monetary aid to students across various undergraduate courses in the state of Georgia. These courses have to be authorized from the various Georgian colleges and universities and are available to students with excellent academic merit. The HOPE Scholarship Georgia Program ensures financial aid to the students to fund their educational needs to attend college for various degree programs.

    These Georgia HOPE Scholarships are funded entirely by the Georgia Lottery for Education since 1993 and they have distributed more than $4.5 billion to nearly one million eligible students pursuing various courses at the qualified public and private colleges and public technical colleges. HOPE stands for ‘Helping Outstanding Pupils Educationally’.

    SELECTION CRITERIA FOR HOPE GA SCHOLARSHIP
    There are various criteria for the selection of the HOPE GA Scholarship. The basic criteria are below.
    • Consistent Academic Merit
    • Enrollment for degree course at an eligible public or private college or university or technical college in Georgia
    • Legal resident of Georgia
    • Compliance with the Georgia Drug-Free Postsecondary Education Act of 1990
    • Meet the program’s U.S. citizenship or eligible non-citizen preconditions
    • Good standing on all financial aid programs
    • Be in compliance with Selective Service registration requirements.

    GEORGIA HOPE SCHOLARSHIP APPLICATION PROCESS
    The application procedure for the “HOPE Scholarships” depends on the college/university, and the applicant can apply online or using pre-printed application forms. The application can be done till the end (last day) of the classes or exams but it is recommended to be done at the earliest. The award amounts, type of institution (public or private), and the type of program enrollment are below.

    Public Institutions
    o Tuition fees for the number of hours enrolled (part-time of full-time)
    o HOPE Approved mandatory fees
    o Books allowance of upto $100 per quarter or $150 per semester
    Private Institutions
    o Full-time students – $1,750 per semester or $1,166 per quarter
    o Part-time students – $875 per semester or $583 per quarter

    The recipients of the Georgia HOPE Scholarships have to ensure that they maintain eligibility consistently to retain the HOPE Scholarship though-out the undergraduate program, which is normally a ‘B’ average.  Each year the applicants have to reapply for the Georgia HOPE Scholarship Program through the institution.     ABOUT THE AWARD
    The Asian Pacific Islander Scholarship (APIA) program is sponsored by the Asian Pacific Islander American Scholarship Fund (APIASF).  The APIASF is the largest non-profit organization in the US that supports and sponsors various scholarship programs for the Asian and Pacific Islander Americans based on the financial need for education. The fund has been established to make a difference in the lives of APIA by providing them access to higher education and nurture them for academic, professional & personal success.

     

    ABOUT THE ORGANIZATION
    The organization was founded in 2003 in Washington D.C. and since its inception APIASF scholarship has distributed more than $2.4 million in Asian Pacific Islander Scholarship funds for various students to support their higher education. The scholars that have received the awards so far represent the diverse group including Chinese, Japanese, Korean, Cambodian, Filipino and many more.

    The APIASF also manages the Gates Millennium Asian Pacific Islander American Scholarship (GMS/APIA) program, which is funded by a grant from the Bill & Melinda Gates Foundation.

    For the APIA Scholarship Program, the funds are sponsored by various corporations including AT&T, the Coca-Cola Company, and McDonald’s amongst various others.

    APPLICATION REQUIREMENTS
    There are some specific requirements for the applicants to be eligible for this Asian American Scholarship and they are below.
    • Should be from Asian and/or Pacific Islander ethnicity (as defined by US census)
    • Should have enrolled at US accredited college or university as full time, degree seeking, first year student
    • Be legal permanent citizen of the US & some specific countries
    • Excellence in academics
    • Must have applied for Federal Financial Aid using FAFSA – Free Application for financial student aid
    • Should have one letter of recommendation

    The Asian Pacific Islander scholarship amounts range $2,500 – $5,000 and are awarded to nearly 200 students. For the academic year 2009-10 the organization awarded more than $625,000 to 225 students in the various field of study including accounting, business, chemistry, music, sociology & others.

    The APIASF scholarship amount depends on “cost of attendance” & it varies in each institution applied for. The award is directly paid to the educational institution by the organization.

    The applicant needs to apply online at the Asian Pacific Islander scholarship application program. Paper application can also be made in some instances. The application process begins during October every year and is closed by Martin Luther King, Jr. Day.     The main aim for providing the AmeriCorps Education Award is to ensure that its members utilize this opportunity to fund the educational expenses from the qualified college or graduate school or to repay the expenditure incurred for academic activities (only qualified loans).     • Any member completing a successful term of service in any of the below mentioned AMERICORPS program is eligible for:

    • The member has to apply for/select the award at the start of the service

    • For reduced half time (675 hours) eligibility limit would be $ 1,800
    • Quarter time tenure with 450 hours would ensure an award for $ 1,200
    • For short-term or summer programs an award of $1,000 or less
    • Pro-rata basis on the tenure served if 15% of the term or more is completed
    • One candidate can get this award for a maximum of two times only
    • The member has to have at least high-school diploma or equivalent to utilize this award
    • Award amount must be used within seven years upon completion of the service
    • The amount can be used in portions according to the candidates choice but can be used only for qualified colleges and qualified loan payments
    • The members have online facility to view the award amount and the balance unused
    • In case of the member serving the organization again with balance award amount, interest accrued is paid by the organization as well.

    The NSDAR (National Society Daughters of the American Revolution) scholarship awards, presented by the DAR scholarship board, are a medium to assist students pursuing degree programs in distinct academic fields like Political Science, Economics, Nursing and Medical Education. There are multiple DAR scholarship awards for each field of study. The Lillian and Arthur Dunn Scholarship is the only Dar scholarship where the mother must be a member (which she would have to be a daughter of the American Revolution) in order to receive a scholarship for her son or daughter. All others may be applied to even if you are not a member of NSDAR. Most NSDAR scholarship awards use a ‘proof of financial need’ as one factor when qualifying.
    ABOUT THE ORGANIZATION
    These awards are sponsored by the NSDAR, a non-profit, non-political volunteer women’s service organization founded in 1890 and headquarters in Washington D.C. The organization is committed to promote American History and patriotism & ensuring secured American future through various means of better education. Currently the organization provides financial assistance to the tune of $150K annually through various NSDAR scholarships. These daughters of the American Revolution scholarships are managed by the DAR Scholarship Committee under the control of State Scholarship Chairman, National Chairman and Executive Committee.     Bob and Jan Davidson established the Davidson Institute only a decade ago. This non-profit organization was created to promote Talent Development. It seemed that there were very many gifted young people who were falling through the cracks in the system. What began as a dream of support has developed into one of best scholarship in the United States, if not top in the entire world – The Davidson Fellows Scholarship.

    For those under the age of 18 who have put together a significant body of work the Davidson Fellows Scholarship awards 10,000USD, 25,000USD and 50,000USD annually.     This Scholarship is designed to reward the exceptionally gifted young minds of today. The principle is simple, support the young minds and encourage them to create a significant body of work that will have a high impact on our society. They are looking for projects that offer an innovative solution with broad range implications that will make a difference in our lives. The Davidson Fellows Scholarship also rewards those who can create a prodigious performance. The category of Science is broken down into physics, chemistry, biology, engineering and earth and space science. Mathematics can be broken down into calculus, number theory or fractals. Music can be defined as talent as a composer, instrumentalist or vocalist. Literature must present a portfolio of literary styles. Philosophy must present a portfolio showing analyses of basic assumptions or ideas pertaining to human thought or culture. Outside the box must be a project that is University graduate level or comparable. An expert in that field must supervise these projects.

    An expert in their field of study must nominate an applicant. A CD presenting their project must be submitted with the application. The judges will make their decision on the following criteria: 50 points for the quality and range of the project, 30 points for the significance of the project and 20 points for the applicant’s knowledge and understanding of the project.

    The student who receives financial aid from the school must maintain a good disciplinary record and maintain good grades. The student’s record will be periodically checked and if he/she fails academically or in disciplinary record, the school has the right to expire his/her scholarship.

Your cumulative high school GPA must at least be 2.75, which is low when it comes to scholarship eligibility standards, and you must of graduated between 12/1 and 8/31.

     

    What the KFC Scholarship program looks for when it selects the winners, or finalist in May of every year, are people who demonstrate an exceptionally strong entrepreneural drive, and a “never give up atitude”. The winners will all have exhibited a perseverance to overcome and eventually succeed type drive inside them.

    Applying for the KFC scholarships is done December 1st through middle of February, and you will be notified in May if your a finalist. An independent selection committee selects the KFC Colonel’s Scholars for each year.

    How the KFC Scholarship Application Process Works
    Since you can’t apply until December 1st of every year, you want to check to see what is posted at the KFC Scholarship program application page starting September 1st through December 1st just to see what it may say. It states that the program is closed between February 15th through August 31st if you go there between those dates. From December 1st to February 15th is where you can submit your application online only. You will be asked to register, to set up your account first. Once that is complete, you will be taken to a KFC scholarship eligibility quiz page to see if you pass that. This little quiz will weed out many people who have no chance to win whatsoever. If you do pass that, then you gain access to the main online application where you can work on the required application essays and other forms of qualification type writting test at your leisure until February 15th at which time you must submit your final application. You just log in and out during those periods and when finally done, hit the final sumit key. This is nice because you don’t have to complete everything at one setting.

    This is one exceptional unknown scholarship offered through KFC, simply because of the large scholarship amounts awarded, and the number of scholarships handed out each year.
