  • Aeronautics NASA Scholarship for Aeronautical Engineering Program

Aeronautic NASA Scholarship for Aeronautical Engineering Programs
    NASA Scholarships

If you are currently enrolled in college, in an Aeronautical Engineering Program, or you soon intend to be, you should consider and research the Aeronautics NASA Scholarship Program from U of M.  to help pay for your education. Among all NASA scholarships that are awarded for specific fields of study, these types of NASA Aeronautics scholarships award the highest amount of funds to help pay for the expense of the education that you are receiving. They are the best scholarships in terms of monetary stipend.

Each year, the NASA Aeronautics Research Mission Directorate awards Aeronautics NASA Scholarships to five graduate students, and 20 undergraduate students who are studying in the field of aeronautics or fields that relate to aeronautics. If you are an undergraduate in your second year of school, you can receive up to $15,000 for the next two years of your education, as well as an internship for the summer, which comes with a $10,000 NASA stipend.

Graduate students receive a $35,000 stipend, $11,000 for three years, and have the advantage of two summers of internship at NASA, with each internship period paying $10,000, for a total of $20,000. This means that in total, for undergraduate students, the total scholarship is approximately $40,000, and for graduate students, the total NASA scholarship award is approximately $88,000. These funds can be used for any expenses related to your education.

If you are not currently enrolled in an aeronautics program of study, you can still apply for these aeronautical scholarships. If you win an aeronautics scholarship, you must be admitted to an approved field of study by the fall after you win the award. You must also be attending a school accredited in the United States and be a citizen of the United States. The student must also show that there is a financial need in order to be considered, and must continue to prove this need each semester. You must also take the GRE exam, and have your scores submitted with your application.

Fields of study that are approved for the Aeronautics NASA Scholarships include electrical, energy and electronic fields, Aeronautical and Aerospace fields, and Engineering fields that include chemical engineering, computer engineering, civil engineering, materials engineering, systems engineering, industrial engineering, engineering science, and engineering mechanics, and studies in the fields of metallurgical and polymer. Computer science and physics under the mathematics field will also be considered.

A student who wins this award can opt not to participate in the summer internships if they so choose, however, if this is the choice that they make, they will not be eligible for the $10,000 stipend for those internships. Applications must be received between September and January, and awards are announced in April for the following fall semester, and all applications must be submitted online – hard copies are not accepted.

Aeronautics is a very exciting and lucrative field, but the cost of the education required for this field is very expensive. You should definitely apply for the Aeronautics NASA Scholarship as well as any other college scholarships that you are eligible for to help with these costs. Of course, the added opportunity to work for NASA at the NASA Center is also something to consider and is a ‘one of a kind’ experience that cannot be duplicated anywhere else.

  • Google Anita Borg Scholarship for Female Students

     Google Anita Borg Memorial Scholarship
    Google Anita Borg Scholarship

If you are a female, Google might help you pay for your college education. While Google has many different Google Scholarships available, the Google scholarship that benefits female students the most is the Google Anita Borg Memorial Scholarship. The Anita Borg Scholarship for female students exists for the purpose of helping women who want to pursue an education and a career in the field of computer science or technology.

The Google Anita Borg Scholarship is available to students in the United States, as well as Africa, Australia, New Zealand, Canada, Europe, and the Middle East. Female students in these different countries are not competing for the Google scholarships with students from other countries. Instead, there is a separate Anita Borg Memorial Scholarship for each of these individual countries, and each has its own set of eligibility rules.

For example, the United States Anita Borg Scholarship requires students to be female, to be entering the senior year of an undergraduate program of study or to be a graduate student, to be enrolled in a computer science program, a computer engineering program, or to a technology related program of study, to be a full-time student, and to have and maintain a 3.5 GPA. Additionally, you must be a citizen of the United States, a permanent resident of the United States, or an international student attending school in the United States in order to be eligible. You can apply if you have already applied in the past, even if you were a finalist.

This Borg scholarship award is worth $10,000, and it includes an all-expenses-paid invitation to the retreat that is held each year at the GooglePlex in Mountain View, California. The winners are chosen based on their academic background and leadership abilities.

The eligibility requirements are the same for every country that is represented by the Google Anita Borg Scholarship, with the exception that you must be attending a school in that specific country, and you must be a resident or citizen of that country.

It is important to realize that this particular Google scholarship for female students is not available for first year students, or any student who does not have at least senior status in an undergraduate program. However, there is an Anita Borg Google First Years Scholarship available that could help you.

The First Years scholarship program is designed for students who are currently high school seniors, about to enter their first year of college. Winners are selected based on their academic background, their community service, their leadership abilities, and their level of interest in computer science. The award amount is $10,000, and these students will also be invited to the GooglePlex retreat. The application process for this Google Anita Borg scholarship is a bit longer, requiring multiple essays and letters of reference – which shouldn’t be any surprise, or any bother considering the size of the award. Although no set number of winners has been announced, Google makes multiple awards of all of the Anita Borg Memorial Scholarships, with each winner being awarded $10,000. Because of the high amount, this Google scholarship is not renewable, and if you win the Borg scholarship for female students, you cannot reapply.

    Barry Goldwater Scholarship

The Barry Goldwater Scholarship Program supports college juniors and seniors to pursue a career in mathematics, natural sciences and engineering. The program recognizes scholars – applicants that are nominated by the college or university officially – and rewards them for the excellence achieved. The objective is to get highly qualified mathematicians, scientists and engineers in the respective field of study. The awards are categorized into two groups – college juniors and college seniors and each institute can nominate two (2) students for 2 year course and four (4) students for 4 year course.

The Barry M Goldwater Scholarship and Excellence in Education Program was authorized by the US Congress in 1986 as a tribute to Senator Barry M Goldwater. The foundation is supported by the memorial scholarship fund which is established in the Treasury of the United States. All the funding for the annual awards is derived from this Trust fund.

The candidates are nominated only by the college or university and the nomination is done by the faculty representative chosen by the institute and the Foundation. Annually the foundation invites eligible accredited US institutions to nominate candidates for the two groups – Two current sophomores for the two year courses and four current sophomores or juniors for the four year degree.

The Goldwater scholarship application is done electronically online and is open from September and can be done from the foundation’s website. The entire process consists of two steps involving institute nomination and nominee application. Keep in mind that if the first step of institutional nomination is not done the application is not even considered. Once the application is submitted supporting documents are to be mailed to the Foundation as well.

Each Goldwater scholarship covers educational expenses up to $7,500 annually and each year the foundation awards 300 such scholarships. Each state in the US is awarded certain Goldwater scholarships based on the number and qualification of application from the 50 States, the District of Columbia, Puerto Rico, and, considered as a single entity, Guam, the Virgin Islands, American Samoa, and the Commonwealth of the Northern Mariana Islands.

The deadline for submission of the application by the Faculty representative is January 29 and the deadline for providing all the necessary documentation to support the application is February 01. The selection process of the Goldwater scholarships involves Initial evaluation done by independent review committee – appointed by the Foundation and this committee recommends the most outstanding nominees from each state. Final selection is done by the Board of Trustees and the same is informed to the institute and the scholar by March.

Mathematics, Science and Engineering – the three areas that have impacted human life the most and will do so in the future as well is fully supported through the Barry Goldwater Scholarship Program. This ensures that regular study and research is continued in these areas and thus the Barry Goldwater Scholarship was introduced. The scholars have won various other awards including Marshall Awards and many more. The Goldwater scholarship has not only rewarded outstanding scholars that have made their mark in the respective field of study but also motivated various others to select these areas for research and development.

  • Unusual and Unknown Engineering Scholarships Grants for College

Many unusual and unknown engineering scholarships are available to students who have the natural tendency in tinkering with things to determine how they work; or maybe you enjoy using mathematical formulas to build or construct equipment or other devices. Then an engineering degree may be the perfect fit for your educational goals.

How are you ever going to find the money to finance this expensive degree program? If you are seriously interested in pursuing a degree in this field, consider learning more about or applying for one of the many unique and unknown engineering scholarships that are available to students just like you.

Many engineering scholarship students make the mistake of overlooking engineering grants from the Society of Automotive Engineers. When the majority of people read about S.A.E. Grants, they believe that these are only available to students who are entering automotive engineering programs. This is not true. Any student who is planning to begin a career in engineering is eligible to apply for these valuable awards.

For example, the Tau Beta Pi SAE Engineering Scholarship offers six scholarship of $1,000 each to freshman students who are interested in beginning a degree program in engineering. Academic requirements are quite strict; students must have a 3.75 grade point average (GPA) to be eligible for these scholarships. Qualified candidates will also have Scholastic Aptitude Test (SAT) scores that rank in the 90th percentile in both math and critical reading.

Another engineer scholarship called the Detroit Section SAE Technical Scholarship is available to both the children and grandchildren of individuals who are currently members of the Detroit Section of the Society of Automotive Engineering. This scholarship program for engineering students was created because the members recognized that fewer qualified students were entering engineering fields. This engineering grant award is for $5,000 and is granted to two freshmen. These engineering scholarships are renewable provided the student maintains a 2.5 GPA.

Because the majority of people who enter engineering degree programs are male, the SAE Women Engineers Committee established a scholarship fund dedicated to young women who wished to enter the field.  These women engineering scholarships are offered to female students who maintain a 3.0 GPA and are accepted into an accredited engineering program. This one-time award of $2,000 is offered to female freshman students because of a generous donation from the Mercedes-Benz USA Corporation.

Minority engineering scholarships can be found through the NACME; which is renown as the nation’s largest private source of scholarships for Latino women and men, American Indian and African American in engineering. In fact; 15% of all the minority engineering graduates from 1974 were awarded some type of minority engineering scholarship financial aid from the NACME and are active in there engineering careers.

NACME selects certain engineering schools to partner with them on helping students to become much more successful, and they get great school participation when it comes to an engineer scholarship grant.

Many colleges and universities also offer private engineering scholarships for engineering students. For example, Clarkson College, located in New York State, and Calvin College, situated in Grand Rapids, Michigan, have scholarship funds established by endowments that are reserved for engineering students. The requirements for individual colleges vary, so students should check with the university they are planning to attend.

Start searching for all the unusual and unknown engineering scholarships that are out there, and apply early. Although there are a number of engineer scholarships available, many of them are very competitive and are based largely on GPA and SAT or Achievement Test (ACT) scores. Many of the engineering grants scholarships that are renewable also require students to maintain a high GPA. Develop good study habits, and prepare for four years of hard work. Students who dedicate themselves to doing this, though, find that engineering scholarships and a degree is well worth the work.
