There are a variety of options available for college scholarships for Asians for those minority and women students. There are various kinds with different criteria. We will tell you about a few of them so you can get an idea of what they are. These are the more prominent minority college scholarships for asian students.

The Asian Pacific Islander American Scholarship Fund is one of the nation’s largest organizations that give scholarships for Asians. It is located in Washington. They started in 2003. Their goal is to make sure that all Asians and Pacific Islanders get the education that they deserve no matter what their financial status is. They feel by doing this it will allow Asians and Pacific Islanders to help to contribute to a stronger America. These Asian college scholarships are ranging from $2500 to $5000. You must be an Asian or Pacific Islander, you must be a United States citizen, and you must also fill out a FAFSA. You also must be enrolling in a college in the United States as a first time student and must attend full-time. You also must have at least a 2.7 GPA or have received a GED.

The other scholarship that they offer is called the Gates Millennium Scholarship. For this one you must be one of the following: Asian, Pacific Islanders, African-American, American Indian or Hispanic American. A student must also be a citizen or resident of the United States, have a 3.3 GPA or a GED, be enrolling as a freshmen full-time at a college or university, demonstrate leadership qualities and fill out a FAFSA. You will need a recommendation from a teacher or a mentor. The deadline for both of these have already passed for this year as it was in January 2010. But you can begin the application for next year anytime.

The U.S. Pan Asian American Chamber of Commerce is another place that you can go for college scholarships for Asians. They receive about 2000 applications every year. They give out about 20 Asian college scholarships every year. These range from $4000 to $5500. The criteria for this scholarship for Asian students is that you must be 16 or older when applying, you must be of Asian Pacific Islander heritage, a citizen or permanent resident of the United States, beginning a college or university as a freshmen. Your GPA should be of at least 3.3, you should be involved in your community and show leadership qualities and have a financial need. The deadline for this year has already passed so you can start working on your application for next year.

There are also a few other Asian scholarships like the Bruce Lee Scholarship, the Drs. Pooh Shien & Judy Young Scholarship, the Paul Shearman Allen & Associates Scholarship and the PepsiCo Hallmark Scholarships to name just a few. There are also many more minority scholarships aimed at helping the Asian students. The opportunities are there to capture scholarships for Asians qualified for the journey.
